Hi All; Is there SKS that could lookup a James and Eliza Ann Sawyer in the 1870 Census of West Grove, Jay County, Indiana. They should have these two children George at 13 and Thomas A. at 11. Ther could very possibly be more. Is there any possibility that there could be a city directory of this town between 1850 and 1875. Did this town just dry up and blow away as I can not locate it in Rand McNally. Thank you for your help Glen Babb

Posted on: Sawyer Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Sawyer/10263 Surname: SAWYER, LAESSIG ------------------------- Just found in the 1880 Census of Brighton Township, Marathon County Wisconsin (It is now online on the Marathon County Website) who I believe to be the birth family of my Grandfather, Frank Laessig's first wife, Mary Sawyer. They are: Joseph Sawyer, 38 bp WI; Father-Canada; Mother-Canada Ellen, 33, pb WI; Father-Scottland; Mother-France Henry 13, pb WI Joseph A Charles F Frank, 7 Mary F, 6 Nelly, 4 Josephine, 2 Since both Joseph and Ellen were born in Wisconsin, their parents lived here too, but I have no idea who they were. Would like any further information/connections to these families. Do not know maiden name of Ellen.
According to the 1860 Minnesota Census, William K. lived in Preston County, MN. He was age 28 at that time and was a farmer. Real Estate value was $1500. Perhaps farm land was available cheap or for the asking. I am assuming that he moved there with the Seeleys, although he was not part of their household. It looks like he and Sarah got married in Minnesota and had their first son, Frank L there. Williiam's parents are Phineas and Jane Kennedy who resided in Bangor, Franklin, NY. William's siblings were: Silas, Mary, Jane and Eunice. Mary married a Wilcox and died in San Diego, CA. Jane married a Henshaw and Eunice a Shuman. Don't know whether any of the family moved to Minn. with William. Larry Seid
Francis Hubert" Frank" Laessig born 30 March 1873 married Mary K. Sawyer born 22 Oct. 1873. She died 13 Aug. 1907. Mary was the daughter of Joseph Sawyer of the Webertown settlement north of what today is Stratford, WI. I have no further information on her birth family. Any further information would be appreciated. Patti Laessig at [email protected]
