In a message dated 8/7/01 7:06:27 AM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: << Hi! Thanks for your reply. Here goes: Annie Elizabeth was married to George Frank Sawyer. Don't have any birth dates on him, but went into business with brother (half-brother, maybe), Benjamin Lopez in 1922 (Lopez Funeral Home). Lopez died in 1931. Business taken over by Sawyer's sons, Benjamin F. Sawyer and Warren Sawyer. Benjamin died in 1949. Anything you can find would help! >> Hi, I find a Benjamin Franklin Sawyer death cert. in 1949 vol. 1376-# 20817 on a death index fiche at the Miami Public Library. Not sure if you knew his middle name. Did you see on Rootsweb , the Monroe County WW1 Draft cards? There is a George Franklin Sawyer born 25 Nov. 188?, also says he is a naturalized citizen. Now, no clue if this is yours, but it is a George. 1900 Census shows a George Sawyer born 1889 and 11 years old. Son of a William and Mary Sawyer. At that time mother Mary shows having 5 kids and they are all listed, no Ben Lopez. Another on 1900 census. George Sawyer born 1880 in Bahamas came here in 1881, occupation Cigar Maker. A Leon Barsal aged 15, born 1884 in Florida is shown after George and is listed as adopted son. Parents are a John & Charlotte Sawyer. I looked for Lopez neighbors on my copies, no luck. I've gone through the 1870 and 1900 census for Monroe County. I may have missed some, there are some bad places on the film. I'll keep your note as I want to look at the other census years and if anything shows, I'll holler. Judi Ferguson Sawyer
My great grandmother was Carrie Roseann Sawyer who married Walter Lee Turbyfill. My mother Norma Jean Turbyfill was raised by her grandmother Carrie and my mothers father was John. Do you have any more info on this branch of the Sawyer family. Thanks
Kari, I have some pictures of a few of the Sawyer family, and a couple of stories about this family as well, as my grandmother joined the DOA and had these things looked up. If you would like to e-mail, and give me your email, would be glad to share some of this with you. Have you seen the family tree on ancestry or did you put this on there? Helen
I have been doing this line for years as my children are decendants. Would like to exchange info and possibly stay in touch if you would like.

I recently purchased two wonderful OLD studio photographs at an antique shop in Geneva, IL. I enjoy buying lovely old pictures like these in antique shops and locating descendants or family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them. Dr. Sidney Sawyer's picture was taken by Sarony's Studio, on Broadway, in NYC, NY, in approx. 1880. He looks to be at least 70 yrs. old, and is a very distinguished looking gentleman, with somewhat balding gray hair and a mustache. On the back of this carte-de-vista 2-1/2" x 4" picture is: "BORN 11-12-1810" and "father of Ada Sawyer Garrett, whose mother was Elizabeth B." J. E. C. Sawyer's picture was taken a studio which appears to be Dhorton, 15-17 N. Pearl St. in Albany (Albany) NY. Picture was taken in about 1890, and he looks to be about 40-50 years old (my estimates). The picture is a Cabinet Portrait of 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" and on the back is "Yours sincerely (and his signature)". He is slightly balding, with medium dark hair, piercing eyes, and he is wearing a beard and a mustache. Each picture is an original (not a copy) on heavy cardstock, as was typical during that time period, and each is an original (not a copy). If this is your family, please do NOT post here, but Email me directly.
Prob the reason your Harmon is not on the 1812 Website is that no-one has submitted info to the site. No one proved my ancestors before me. Member of "United States Daughters 1812". Rose L > Would you or anyone on this site have any details of military record of Harmon Sawyer during War of 1812. Her most of her other brothers are buried in Palm Cemetery in Winter Park, Orange Co., Florida, but not Robert Lee Harper, who lived in Miami at one time. Would appreciate any help you may be able to give me.
