Sasser (son of William Pickney and Suzanna Sasser) Died while serving in the Confederate States Army, December 19th, 1861. Further information not known. James Dison Sasser Enlisted in the Confederate Army as a private in Company K. 36th Alabama Regiment. His name appears on the roll of Prisoners of War dated June 20th, 1865. He was parolled by Brig Gen M.H. Chrysler, Commander U.S. Forces, Talldega, Alabama. In the records at the Department of Archives in Washington D.C. is a receipt signed JD Sasser, 1863 for commutation ond rations while on sick furlough, Sept 28th to Oct 17th inclusive. Period of Service is listed as May 1, 1862 to June 30 1863. He was wounded (in the shoulder) at the battle of Chicamauga. William C. Sasser United States Army, European Theater of Operations during World War II. Served with the 321st Combat Engineers, requested and was granted a transfer to the 26th Combat Infantry Division. Major campaigns to include the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. Served in the European front lines until the surrender of Germany in May 1945. Acquired a 38 cal. handgun from a captured Rumanian Officer, s/n 152251,. certificate of captured enemy equipment dated October 18th, 1945. Frederick D. Sasser United States Air Force, SMSgt, Retired Janice B. Sasser United States Air Force, TSgt, Retired Robert E. Sasser United States Air Force, MSgt, Retired. Enlisted on January 9th 1976. Retired on July 1st 1996. Deployed to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai)on January 4th 1991 during Operation Desert Shield. Volunteered for redeployment to saudi Arabia, King Fahd Air Base on January 24th for Operation Desert Shield. Assignments include: McChord AFB, Washington State, RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, England, Langley AFB, Virginia.
