    1. [SASSER-L] THOMAS W & DANIEL SASSER

    3. I am looking for a connection to two Sassers: one named THOMAS W. 'Tom' and DANIEL 'Dan'. Among some old photos my grandmother, Coral H. Mattingly Farabee, left me are 3 photos of these two Sassers. They may be brothers. In the 2 pics of TOM SASSER, he seems to have been in WWII at the time & perhaps in a cavalry unit. In the one pic of DAN SASSER, he seems to have been a cook in military during WWII, stationed at Fort Sill, OK. My grandmother has written on this picture "Dan Sasser on left. My Cousin." I've been through an ocean of KY Mattinglys & never turned up any Sassers in that part of my grandmother's tree. I'm thinking that if they are cousins that it may be through her Stewarts. My grandmother's mother was Martha Jane Stewart (b: 1874, Laurel Co., KY) m: John L. Mattingly (b: 1860, Clay Co., KY). Martha Jane Stewart's parents were: Martin VanBuren Stewart (b: 1848-49, Knox Co., KY d: Bef. June 21, 1900, KY?) and Rhoda J. Hubbard (b: April 1850, Clay Co., KY d: Unknown in OK?). Their children were: 1. Cue b: Aft. 1865 d: Bef. June 21, 1900 2. Isabel b: Abt 1869 3. Sally Ann b: Abt 1870 4. Lucinda b: Abt 1872 5. Martha Jane b: July 24, 1874 6. Daniel b: Abt. Aug. 1876 (never married but had a son called Charlie) 7. Cumiah b: Abt 1877 m: William Bristo Mattingly 8. Nancy b: Abt Sept 1882 m: ? Jefferson Davis Champion? 9. Henry b: Abt Nov 1885 m: Bessie Thomas 10. William James b: Abt April 1886 11. Joseph E. b: July 26, 1880 m: Laura Mattingly I may be off base on the Sasser-Stewart connection but it's the only one that seems likely. If either of these two Sassers ring any bells with anyone, I'd like to know how they fit in. I presume they were from KY originally & may have ended up in OK after WWII. Thanks Mary McLachlan mclachlan@worldnet.att.net
