I had about come to the conclusion thatyou had not got my letter. I was sorry to hear that Butler was not well butI hope he has got well by this time.It has been a raining and a snowing together all day. Tell Frank Williams' wife that her father is a stopping with me a few days and that he is well and hearty.Where does Joe Gregory and his wife live? Yes, I think you are a good guesser when you said Joe would get married but I thought Joe was most tooyoung to get married. Was Marsh willing for Joe to get married? Yes, I seenyour letter in the Echo. I take the Echo and the Louisville Courier Journaland I read them close to see what is going on in old Ky.I will be back to Ky by the first of April if nothing happens. I have rentedmy farms here that I did not sell. I rented one to James Payne and LafayetteJones and the other one to W. H. Sasser. I sold one of my farms to Payne andLafayette Jones. They are to give me $1700 for the place with my part of thecrop.Fred McCarty is a herding sheep for Luther. Fred stayed last week with me. Luther McCarty has bought him a farm. He paid $1200 for it. Jim Jones hassold his sheep. He got about $4000 for them. He talks some of going back toKentucky, but I don't think he will. I have sold two of my farms and I havetwo unsold. I have been a sowing grain for the last few days. It will takeme about a week longer to get through sowing my grain yet.The Baptists had a protracted meeting at Mitchell this fall. They got abouta dozen joiners. Two of W. H. Sasser's children joined. I have not been tochurch since the Sunday I was at Rough Creek last May.John Black has bought him a bunch of sheep. He bought about 1600 head. Hisbrother Jim came here about a month ago and is a herding sheep for John. Twoyoung men came here with Jim, one by the name of George Crawford and one bythe name of Hendron (maybe Herndon?-S) I have not seen Jim yet.Tell Jarvis that I seen his picture a few days ago. A young Dr. from Tenn.by the name of McCorkle had Jarvis' picture. McCorkle is a practicingmedicine at Mitchell. See if Jarve can guess who had his picture.Mack Cornett stayed two nights with me a week or so ago. He talks of goingback to Ky next summer. I think Lafayette Jones and one of Jim Payne's girlswill get married. Has Doctor Brock got married yet. Did you go to the fairat London last Aug.? If you did was it a good one? I think of going to the next fair at London if nothing happens.Vicy, I was pleased to learn that you was a going to school so regular and amaking good use of your time for there is not anything more useful to aperson than a good education.I will buy my ticket direct to Red House, Madison County, Ky when I go home,but I will come up to Laurel the first chance I have and you must come downto Madison when I get back there and see how I live. Tell Butler and Jarvisto write to me as I would be glad to hear from them. As I have nothing moreto write that I think would interest you so I will close for this time.
