To: the Sasser and Humfleet lists Since most of you are far more adept with the internet than I am, you probably knew about the Edenfield Genealogical Society Database long before I did. I only recently discovered it and have found some information that would be of interest to others who have not already found it. Under "Excite," type in "genealogy, Sasser," and the first site listed is the EGS Database, which traces the Sassers back to John Sasser in 1715 (as questionable as that is). You won't find much new on the Sassers, but you can go from there to a lot of interrelated Knox/Laurel County families--Kirby, Cobb, Tuttle, etc. Also--Jarvis, Helton, etc. I found some especially interesting material on my Cobb forebears. I happened to look up "genealogy, Humfleet" under "Yahoo." The first site is Don's. The fourth one down is Debbie's. The fourteenth on the list is the EGS site on Robert Gilbert, who married Piety Humfleet (daughter of Arthur Humfleet and granddaughter of Piety Sasser Humfleet, daughter of Henry Sasser). Since Piety died giving birth to her first child, Lucy (who was raised by my grandmother up to age six, when my grandmother married in 1897, and then left in the care of her grandfather), the chart in effect is limited to the descendants of Lucy (Aunt Lucy, as I knew her, although she was my first cousin once removed) and her first husband, Jesse Helton (who is incorrectly said to be her SECOND husband). But there are a lot of names of people belonging to several generations that anyone who is putting together family charts will want to make use of. As in so many such charts, I fail to see sources listed, which makes the information less useful. Glenn ***************************************** Glenn E.
