Debbie M: I am almost sure that the James Sasser mentioned in the 1892 Mountain Echo is my g,great grandfather James Buchanan Sasser, son of William Henry Crawford Sasser, son of Henry & Nancy (Kirby) Sasser. After his first wife died, he remarried Cynthia Williams (daughter of John (Reb) Williams & Barbara Weaver). Cynthia gave birth to Taylor Sasser (my grandfather) and died shortly thereafter. James' third marriage was to Nancy Perry. They left Laurel County and went west, living in Kansas, Oklahoma, and then finally settling in Oregon. When they left Laurel County, Taylor was left with his maternal grandparents, Reb and Barbara Williams. James returned in 1892 from Kansas to get Taylor and take him with them. Taylor did not want to go and stayed in Laurel County and was raised by Reb & Barbara Williams. I was not aware that Reb had ever lived in Arkansas, nor do I have any information on his family. If anybody out there has any info, I'd appreciate it if you would pass it on to me. Phil Sasser
