Harvey Humfleet Wednesday and attended the celebration the 4th. W. F. Sasser like Job of old is afflicted with boils. ALTAMONT Harry Withers, while at church at East Bernstadt, Saturday evening was attacked by Jim Bullock, receiving a knife wound, cutting an artery of the neck and splitting his ear. Mr. Sam Cox has gone West to seek his fortune. Mr. I. F. Green put out some strychnine for crows, but to his surprise he killed five very fine white ducks instead of crows, and when the report reached the owner there was almost a fight, as the ducks were favorites of his wife. TOPTON Some one borrowed a few bags of flour from D. C. Edwards commissary a few nights ago, without his leave, too. MAPLESVILLE Miss Eliza Harrison after a protracted illness of six months, died last Wednesday evening. Her remains were laid to rest Thursday in the family graveyard. Miss Mary Moore, while out riding last Tuesday evening, was thrown from her horse and received slight injuries but not serious. VOX MARRIED-At the residence of the bride's father in the presence of a number of relatives and other friends July 3d, Mr. W. P. Brewer of Fariston, to Miss Manilia Parker, of this place. Rev. C. G. Brewer officiating. May they have a long and prosperous journey through life. LOCAL ITEMS Mr. O. H. Griffin and family are occupying their new residence in the Johnson addition. It is small but a "mighty sight of company" is the report from Dr. Pennington's. It is a girl and registered its arrival last Friday. Mr. Wm. G. Greybeal, who has been out West for several years, that is several times in the last few years, returned to old Laurel a few days ago. Mr. C. X. Bowling who has been attending school at Valparaiso, Ind. during the last year, has returned and will make London his future home. Married-At the court house last Friday, Mr. Wm. Earl to Mrs. Nannie Steele, and at the same place on Saturday, Mr. John U. Binder to Miss Bertha Scheupbach. The officiating official on each of these occasions was Judge Brown.. Master Sanders Posey is ill of typhoid fever. This is the first case we have had within the corporate limits of London this year. The last week has been a very busy one in the Laurel Quarterly Court. Among the cases disposed of were Jesse Barton, false swearing, acquitted; Lee Williams, petit larceny, acquitted; same breach of the peace using insulting language, fined $20; Wm. Brock, trespass, fined $20; J. E. Evans, using liquor in school election, fined $25; Dan Hibbard, petit larceny, fined one month at hard labor. ______________________________
