    3. I hope this is someone's Great-uncle Arthur!! Debbie M ============================================ Reprinted with permission of the Laurel Co. Historical Soc. ============================================ November 6, 1895 Uncle Ben Magee of this county celebrated his seventieth birthday last Monday by placing his x under the Log Cabin, and thus contributing to the grand Republican ticket. Uncle Ben is a happy an old man as you will usually find. Mr. Wm. Michler, who has been visiting in Milwaukee, Wis., for several days has returned home. Mrs. Ann Ohler and her daughter, Miss Maude, of Yates Center, Kans., are visiting relatives in this county. Uncle Arthur Sasser presented us yesterday with an old fashioned long red Irish potato and a very fine one too, the seed of which he said his father in law presented him with in 1841, which he planted in that year and ever year since. Uncle Bart Reams aged 82 years who voted for Gen'l Harrison in 1840-44, by placing his x under the Log Cabin now living five miles north of London, came to town yesterday and put her under the Log Cabin again. MIDDLESBORO, KY., Nov. 20- Miss Hattie Turner, stepdaughter of Lieut. S. H. Bell and Huston Bell eloped to Tennessee and were married. The bride is only 13 years old. The groom is the brother of the stepfather of the bride. OAKLEY Our genial teacher Mr. E. E. Wilder, returned to his home at Boreing last Friday and remained over Tuesday. Mr. David Withers is expected to arrive daily from Jamaca, where he has been for almost a year. We are informed that our friend, W. J. Mullins, having taken unto himself a helpmate, has quit politics, moved to McWhorter, and settled down to the true enjoyment of life. ______________________________
