Helton of Milwaukee, WI during a trip to the Newberry Library sometime in the mid 1970's. Not all sources are listed. The original document was very hard to read as he used onion-skin paper. It is very faded. I hope this is of use to someone out there....In spots, I can not make out some words or letters, I have used an underline _ to note this. 1. Margaret Sasser born 1782 Wayne Co. NC died 1869 married John _urrel, in Wayne Co., NC born 1784 died 1-24-1847. Eight children. John is reportedly the first white man to set foot on North Louisiana soil. 2. Lemuel _otch (could be Hotch or Botch) born 7-20-1798 married Ann Sasser, sister of John and Henry Sasser. 3. Elizabeth Bryan, daughter of William and Elizabeth Smith Bryan married Col. Josiah Sasser. Children: Mary, William, Blake and Lewis Sasser. 4. John W. Sasser and Mary P. Baldwin, married 8-7-1855. 5. William Thomas Sasser born 9-29-1856 6. Sallie Lee Sasser born 12-10-1857. 7. Mary P. Sasser died 10-14-1860 unknown disease 8. William Thomas Sasser died 7-15-1864 in Wilmington from surgical operation for stone in bladder, died 50 hours later. 9. Lewis Bryan married Elizabeth Sasser, aunt of John Sasser of Wayne Co., NC 10. Benjamin Bryan (son of Neham and Nancy Smith Bryan) married his cousin Mary Sasser (daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Sasser Bryan). 11. John Sasser and Polly Driver were married 5-7-1775 Bertie Co., NC 12. Index to deeds 1805-1810 Whitty Sasser witnessed a will Walton Knight probated 1-7-1839, Richmond Co., GA 14. Everette Sasser, Jr., of Atlantic GA married Dorothy Rinker on 6-16-1957. She was born 1819. 15. List of Pensions - 1883 by US Government Nancy Sasser, Knox Co. KY (Crane Nest) widow (Civil War), 8.00 per month placed on roll 2/1865. 16. Cowetta Co., GA. The growth of the county was manifest in (? - may be Senoia) by two new brick stores, Hutchinson & Roberts and CF & JN Sasser's. At an oratorical contest in which all of the high schools of the county took part, J.B. Sasser and Georgia Arnold were awarded prizes by the judges. 17. 1783 Petition of inhabitants of Anson Co., NC to General Assembly showeth that whereas on act of the Assembly appointed commissions to fix a place in Anson Co., to build a courthouse within two miles of the center of said county. It appears from the plan thereof to be remote from the bulk of inhabitants and a very poor settlement of barren black-jack land unfitting for public roads, etc. Signers: Joseph Sasser 18.
