F.B Riley left for Washington City yesterday to be present at the inauguration of President Cleveland and hopes to procure the promise of the Marshalship of Kentucky. Old man Eb. Humflete died at his home in the Chesnut neighborhood a few miles from London, Tuesday, Feb. 28. He had been for sometime afflicted with a cancer near one of his eyes. County Clerk Scoville has issured marriage license to the following named parties during the past week; Daniel Goff and Miss Ettie Phelps; William E. Morgan and Miss Mary Z. Black; Scott McPhetridge and Miss Sallie Jones; B.F. Vanhook and Miss Harriet M. Hale; John S. Parker and Miss Sallie Southerland; B.F. Milburn and Miss Rebecca J. Moore; William N. Gilbert and Miss Malinda Sasser. Court will probably adjourn this afternoon. A large number of misdemeanor cases have been disposed of during the week. James Barnard and Jo Allen, indicted jointly for assaulting and attempting to rob Pat Casey, asked a severance of their cases for trial. Barnard's case was taken up and the jury found him guilty, giving him one year in the penitentiary. Allen's case was continued until the next term of the court. James Edwards was convicted for house breaking and goes to the penitentiary for one year. The case of Beth Fuson, indicted in Whitley county for murder was continued and a peremtory? order made for trial at the next term. The case of George Gregg for murder was continued on affidavit of the defendant. Case of John Lucas for forgery was also continued. Both juries was discharged yesterday. The Martha Washington Tea at the residence of Judge W.L. Brown Friday night, for the benefit of the Kindergarten, was a decided success. Quite a number of persons attended and the receipts were the pleasing event of the evening. Miss Stella Brown and Master Roy Brown, personating Martha and George Washington, deserve credit for the manner in which they performed the parts assigned them. All present enjoyed the evening and pronounced it a pleasant affair.
