To: Sasser and Humfleet lists I am forwarding a message from my brother Michael. It contains some very interesting stories he recently heard--from people who have seemingly collected a lot of information over the years. The one legend about Bill Humfleet (Henry Sasser's son in law), whose imprisonment by the US government during the Civil War I recently reported on, as well as several matters pertaining to Sassers, should be of interest to some of us. You may want to skip over the references to the Moores etc. I am not sure about the stories concerning the Henry Sasser Bible. The story about how my aunt, Lucy Taylor Stanfield, obtained it probably shows some confusion, as I know that she got it after Rhoda Glass's death. The story of how Rhoda got it--from Champ Sasser (the youngest son of Wallace Sasser), about whom I releated some information a few months ago--does make sense.
