MARRIAGE: According to "The Sasser Family," which records that Henry Sasser and Nancy Kirby obtained their marriage bond on 26 February 1812 in Smithfield, North Carolina, and were wed on 12 March 1812. Ann Baird Howe records that the date of the marriage was 10 March 1812. DEATH: According to "The Sasser Family." BURIAL: According to "The Sasser Family," which records that he was buried in the Old Sasser Cemetary on his farm. PLACES OF RESIDENCE: Johnston County, North Carolina; Laurel County, Kentucky. According to Ann Baird Howe, Henry Sasser and his wife Nancy moved with ten children from Johnston County, North Carolina to Laurel County, Kentucky in about 1826. OCCUPATION: According to Ann Baird Howe, Henry Sasser was a farmer and wagon maker. FAMILY HISTORY: Arthur James Howe is in possession of a copy of a five-page typewritter document entitled "The Sasser Family" that Ann Baird Howe found in Mama's (Cecil Evelyn Jones Howe's) house in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mama did not remember who gave the document to her. Ann Baird Howe has since spoken with Lisle Hale, 2371 Blackwater Road, London, Kentucky 40741. According to Ann Baird Howe, the document entitled "The Sasser Family" was "worked up by [the] Hale sisters, Lisle and Janice and [their] parents, from [their parents'] memory." Ann Baird Howe relates that this document "has been copied - incorrectly in places [and is] being reworked and double checked by Lisle now." The document entitled "The Sasser Family" states as follows: "Henry Sasser was born March 29, 1778 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He died January 11, 1859 in Laurel County, Kentucky and is buried in the 'Old' Sasser Cemetary on his farm. He was the son of William and Martha Sasser of Johnston County, N.C. His mother's maiden name is unknown." "On February 26, 1812 at Smithfield, North Carolina he and Nancy 'Nannie' Kirby obtained their marriage bond. They were wed on March 12, 1812. Nancy Kirby was born June 25, 1792 and died about 1836. Her father may have been Jesse Kirby of Johnston County, N.C."
