John Sasser, age 37, born Lowndes County, GA, enlisted as a private in Company E., 2nd. Regiment, Florida Cavalary (U.S.), 15 April 1864, at Key West, FL. This company was formed there and he was enlisted by Capt. John Woods. John Sasser was shown as a mechanic, blue eyes, sandy hair, 5' 8" tall and made his mark with an "X". A muster and descriptive roll shows him as a refugee from the Confederacy. He died at Cedar Key, FL, 6 October 1864, of Typhoid Fever.
