It's hard to believe its 1998 and that time has rolled around again. Time for the 25th TOM & LELA SASSER FAMILY REUNION! I heard some of you did not receive the postcard I sent out in the fall. I'm truly sorry for that, some were returned (you moved and didn't tell me) and had been smudged so they might have gotten wet. Any way, here is all the scoop and then some you may have missed. We are trying for a central Texas location this year. The reunion will be held on June 12, 13, and 14 at Hidden Cove Park; The Colony, Texas. You'll find an enclosed brochure highlighting this park. We have reserved the group dining hall for Saturday and Sunday. If you want to go ahead and make reservations you will need to pay for full rate one day. If you have a Corp. of Engineers Golden Age Pass you will get your half price discount back when you check in. Also, if you reserve a shelter anyone in the group using the dining hall will get first choice of the shelters in that area on arrival. You can't plug in R.V.s of any kind at the shelters, but they have great sites with hook up near by. All sites are on first come first served basis, even with a reservation, but you will get one. I hope this makes sense. Has everyone been working on or, at least, thinking about bringing their auction items? Last reunion's auction was a big success. The personally made items were the favorites, painted T-shirts and vests, wind chimes, wooden vases, crocheted Items, needle point items, and paintings. There were other "white elephant" items that turned into sought after treasures , a tractor seat, jewelry boxes, old movies on video, and an O.U. cup. There were photo copies of some old family photos that really brought in the bids. Everyone had a great time, it was more fun, and more profitable than passing a hat. So, dust off those "special" items or get busy on those crafts and bring your auction items. Don't forget the kids, they enjoy bidding also. We are doing our best to get this all pulled together. If you have any questions please call one of us or my dad Tom Swails, the former president, and now reconnaissance agent. also, please send all address changes of your family members.
