To: The Sasser Group From: Glenn E. Perry I received a telephone call last night from Joyce Gilbert Cottongim, a cousin on almost all sides--daughter of Wallace Gilbert and Audrey Sasser Gilbert--who grew up near where I lived as a child. There are several matters of possible interest to some members of the group. One is that Joyce apparently has a lot of material to share, notably the papers of her first cousin, Robert Helton (much of the information in which was provided by Joyce's mother). I had even heard that many of those papers had been lost, but that apparently is not the case. Joyce says that the pages with geneological information were removed from the Henry Sasser Bible and deposited in the state archives in Frankfort, KY. She understood that the archives would only accept the originals, not photocopies. Although I have mixed feelings about this Bible being dismembered, hopefully the pages will be safer now and we can get xerox copies. I still have not heard from Paul and Yvonne Harris, who reportedly have the Bible and to whom I wrote about this matter several months ago. Again, I am reporting hearsay, but Joyce seems to know what she is talking about. Finally, Joyce is anxious to help with the various geneological charts and apparently has a lot to offer. I am thinking not only of Don's chart of the Sassers but also of Jim Smith's and Phyllis Rogers's work on the descendants of the original Wallace Gilbert. Her address is Joyce Cottongim, 6389 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, Middletown, OH 45044. Tel.--513-777-3835. ***************************************** Glenn E.
