    3. Dear Martina, So far, I nor anyone I know of has been able to learn who the wife of BENJAMIN SASSER was. Nor any proof on who his parents were. The reason for this is that he was apparently married in either old Dobbs County (the records of which were burned and destroyed in 1871) or he was married in adjoining Wayne County, where he was living in 1779. Many of the older records of Wayne County have also been lost, especially the marriage bonds. According to the 1790 census records of Wayne County, he had at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. The sons included your ancestor, FREDERICK, JAMES, JOEL and JOSEPH. I haven't yet identified the other son nor the two daughters. BENJAMIN was born 7 May, 1755 at Stoneybrook in what is now Lenoir County and died 4 Mar., 1833 in Columbus County, NC. When Benjamin sold land in Wayne County in Sept., 1796, his son FREDERICK was a witness to the deed. FREDERICK was born about 1777 in Wayne County and died in Columbus County (no date of death). He married ELIZABETH WARD, daughter of MATHEW WARD and ANN ELLISON. They had at least 5 children. Would appreciate info on your direct line from Frederick. Your cuz, Robert Earl Woodham
