STEPHEN3 SASSER (JOSEPH2, JOHN1) was born 1780 in New Bern, Craven Co., NC, and died 1861 in Sasser City, Lincoln Co., MS. He married FRANCES HART Abt. 1805, daughter of JOHN HART and MARY GILL. Notes for STEPHEN SASSER: Joseph Hale Sasser wrote a family history on the Sasser's. Most likely English origin. Most of his children were Baptist. Stephen was not found in any church rolls. Passport given to go through the Creek Lands in GA was issued in Oct. 10, 1810 Granted from Atlanta GA. His wife, 4 children and John Hart. Listed in the 1840, 1860 Census of MS Stephen Sasser was first cousins to his wife. J.T. Cupit, "Our Kin" has a chapter on the Sasser. He says that Stephen is the great grandson of John Sasser. Mrs. Leslie Sasser wrote a letter to mom from Bogue Chitto, MS listing a huge amount of SASSER descendants from Stephen. My grandfather, Cleveland Hunsucker was listed as a descendant. J.C.
