    3. Maureen, Sorry I didn't get to answer earlier. Since going online two months ago, I have received 11 notebooks of email so far and several stacks yet to be answered. The MARTHA DORTHULA SASSER you asked about was the daughter of HENRY G. SASSER, born 1843 in Meriwether County, Georgia (not Alabama). He was the son of WILLIAM PINKNEY SASSER and SUSANNA ROBERSON DISON (not Dixon). The family moved from Meriwether Co. to Talladega County, Alabama during the 1840's. HENRY G. served as a soldier in the Confederate States Army during the War for Southern Independence. WILLIAM PINKNEY SASSER and SUSANNA ROBERSON DISON were married about 1835 (no date found yet). He was born 1822 in North Carolina but I haven't learned exactly where as yet nor have I learned who his parents were as yet. Susanna was born in 1822 also. They had at least nine children: Richmond, James Dison, Sarah Antoinette, Henry G., William, Regina Clementine, Laura, John Wesley and Susanne Roberson. This information comes from an unsigned and undated manuscript in the family files at the Alabama State Archives in Montgomery, Alabama which I copied back in the 1970's.
