    3. I'm looking for any information abt. my great grandfather Karl Sassmannshausen (b. June 7., 1835 in Hilchenbach, Westfalia, Prussia) who immigrated abt. 1870 to USA. I don' know if he shortened his christian and/or surname in any way, perhaps the surname Sasser is a shortened form (?). My anchestor settled first in Laredo/Tx. The last information (oral history) about him is a hint that he died in Salado/Tx. (date and place of burial are unknown) My great grandfather married again, his second wife was german born, they had abt. 2 - 3 children (born 1875+, names and dates are not known). My great grandfather and his new family had correspondance with their german relatives until worldwar 1, the letters got lost. My recent investigations don't have any success . I'm interested in sharing information about Sassmannshausen family members in USA and elsewhere (surname in full or shortened form).
