To: Sasser-L, This is from Johnston County Library of Smithfield, NC. It looks like by 1704 the Kirby's were selling out of VA and on their way to NC. Some sellers in this deed book gave their address as NC. On page 116 of the Isle of Wight Deed Book 2 it looks like the Perry's, "Merchants of London" in the year 1711 was accumulating much acreage in VA. Would this Thomas Kirby be Nancy Kirby's grandfather or g-grandfather? The date looks right. Dear Cousins, Does anyone have knowledge of a connection between the Thomas Sasser born about 1770 in NC, the Thomas Sasser born about 1800 in GA, and the James Brist Sasser listed in the 1880 census? (Soundex 260, Screven Co GA) He was listed as eighteen years old at that time and living in the Mary Sasser household. He was the father of my father Thomas J. Sasser Sr born March 27th 1886 in Screven Co. My brothers name was James, and Thomas and James are among the traditional boys names in this line. I have not been able to establish a connection to the older Thomas Sassers mentoned. Any help would be most welcome. Your Cousin Thomas J. Sasser Jr.

Dear Carl and other cousins, Can you please send me the names and residences of your aunt's children and other survivors (brothers, sisters, etc.). Also her occupation, church, schools attended, etc. so I can write an obituary for the family newsletter. For all of you--when you hear about a death in the family, PLEASE let me know, so I can add this information to our Family Library AND write an obituary about the relative. The death of every one of our relatives deserve to be recognized in their own family newsletter but we can't do this if you don't tell me. Robert Earl

For those who may be interested, I hear that there is a reunion of the Oregon branch of the Sasser family this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The reunion will be at Blue Park Lake, Shelter 13C in Portland. The reunion has been an annual event. I will not be able to attend this year but attended once before. If anyone is interested in this branch of the family, I have posted at my web site -- http://members.tripod.com/~arthowe/ -- the descendents of the Oregon Sasser family that my mother Ann Baird Howe and others have collected.
