In 1880 Joseph said on the census that his mother was born in Delaware and his father in Maryland. Sapp and Annie Pool. John and family are shown on the census as living in Knox Twp., Jefferson Co. Birth/Death: DC 28/10058 at OHS. John and Sarepta are buried at Knoxville. sp- Sarepta Annie Pool Born - 19 Oct 1852 Brooke Co, West Virginia Mar. - 16 Apr 1878 Jefferson Co, Ohio Died - 29 Jul 1931 Knox Twp, Jefferson Co, Ohio Dau of William Pool & Nancy Mc Gee Note - In 1900 John and Sarepta have been married 22 years. She has given birth to six children, all still living. The census gives her birth as Nov 1852. Birth/Death: DC 31/43661 at OHS with Mrs. Charles Sapp as informant. 3 - George C. Sapp Born - 7 Jul 1854 Ohio Note - George and Catherine were living in Carrollton in 1900. There is a cemetery plot in Grandview cemetery, Carrollton, but no dates or first names on the stones. Peter M. Herrold, brother, age 72 b. Ohio was living with them in 1920. The 1900 census gives George's birth as Jul 1856. I found a marriage between George Sapp and Mary D. Sapp as informant. sp- William Zakariah Freshwater Born - 20 Jun 1846 West Virginia Mar. - 18 Sep 1900 Died - 16 Feb 1920 Son of John Ruben Freshwater & Lydia Ridgely Note - The 1900 Ohio census has William as a widower living in Toronto. His birth is given as June 1847 in West Virginia. He has four children living at home with him. Louise, Joseph, William and Harry. 3 - James Sylvester Sapp Born - 24 Feb 1858 Jefferson Co, Ohio Died - 13 Jun 1920 Toronto, Jefferson Co, Ohio Note - The 1900 census has James and Bell living in Jefferson Co, Knox Twp. In 1880 they were living in Island Creek Twp. He is buried at Island Creek Cemetery. The 1860 census lists him as Sylvester, age one. DC 20/43343 with Mrs. Isabella Sapp as informant. sp- Isabella C. (Belle) Johnston Born - Dec 1858 Ohio Mar. - 13 Nov 1879 Jefferson Co, Ohio Dau of Henry Johnston & Margaret Note - She was Bella Johnson when she got married. . 3 - Emma J. Sapp Born - 29 Aug 1864 Note - I believe this family lived in West Virginia. sp- Paul W. Pyle Born - 27 Feb 1850 Burgettstown, Pennsylvania Mar. - 15 Aug 1876 Jefferson Co, Ohio, divorced Died - 23 May 1921 Steubenville, Jefferson Co, Ohio Son of William Pyle & Louise Shipler Note - I have seen Paul's initial as M. but it is W. on the LDS microfilm. DC: 21/28308 with Joseph Pyle as informant. 3 - Anson B. Sapp Born - 17 Oct 1868 Ohio Died - 4 Jan 1964 Toronto, Jefferson Co, Ohio Note - Anson never married. On the 1880 Census he is listed as B. Anson. The Ohio Death Index says he is 95 years old and married. !Obit: Steubenville HS, January 4, 1964. sp- Clara Seevers Born - 1889 Ohio Note - Death: !Obit: Steubenville HS, March 19, 1966. She was 31 in 1920. Clara also had a son Elwood Seevers of Alliance. 2 - Ruth Ann Sapp Born - 22 Jan 1826 Died - 28 Nov 1911 Note - Ruth Ann and John are buried in Sugar Grove M. E. Cemetery, Knox Twp. In 1900 Ruth Ann is living alone in Toronto. John and family are living next to Abbie in 1850, but for some reason Ruth Ann is listed as Martha A. Ruth Ann and John are buried in Sugar Grove M. E. Cemetery, Knox Twp. Of Irish parentage, but born in Maryland, says the 1910 History of Steubenville and Jefferson Co., Ohio. 3 - Ann Crawford Born - 14 Feb 1848 Note - She was Annie when she married George. He was Nessly J. age 20 on the 1880 census. In 1900 J. N. and wife Lizzie are living in Toronto. sp- Lizzy E. They were living in Toronto in 1900. Birth/Death: DC 37/72800 with Mrs. O. Y. Crawford as informant. He is buried at the Toronto Cemetery. sp- Letitia A. On the 1900 census Nancy is a widow with ten children born, five living. She has Lottie, James, and Minnie living at home. Also a grand son Harry W. age 12, b. Jul 1887. Arkansas and Emmeline E. age 10, Ohio are all living together. In 1920 William and Cynthia have a nephew, Jayson Quinn, 34, W.
