    3. Hi Bill and Jackie, Bill, Thanks for the heads-up on PAF4 being available for a free download. I am a long-time PAF 2.31 and PAF 3.0 user, so was anxious to try version 4. It is *BEAUTIFUL*. (we just got back from a 2-weeks vacation, and my mails have piled up is why I am so late in answering this). I created a new PAF4 directory to download into, but the program created its own directory during the installation. Thats OK. You are correct, don't download or install into your PAF3 directory, that might create problems. Jackie, from my briefly reading the instructions, this program reads PAF3 files directly, but earlier PAF files, and foreign files (non-PAF) must be converted. There are instructions (on your computer), using the IMPORT command. Relatively easy. I downloaded and installed PAF4, and then thought I would import a PAF3 file to it. No Need. It just went over to my PAF3 directory, and read the file I asked for, didn't need to convert it or anything. (Apparently you do have to convert PAF 2.31 files) To me, it looks like a very nice revision. It seems to be about the same content wise, but the display is a very slick Windows version, where PAF3 was still a DOS-looking affair. It does have a modified register printout capability, that I don't remember from before. It handles graphics and pictures, and and promises a companion printer capability, yet to come. To me, it is a very nice presentation, with the availability to use the mouse or the keyboard, whichever the user desires. I also like the idea of using a program written by the same folks who write the specifications for gedcom files, and who bring us all the wonderful FamilySearch data. It is a much more compact program than Family Tree for Windows. I really like it (as you can probably tell).
