Hamilton County (OH) Marriage Index, Cross Index, 1817-1845 Vol 03; Pg 64; Date: 1826 Sapp, Thomas Williams, Nancy ================= Opinions -------- I can't say the following with great conviction, so this represents my current set of ideas as to who Thomas, Nancy, and family were. "Obviously" this needs investigation and sourcing, as well as other pairs of eyes. -------------- Thomas, son of John and Hettie (Barcus) Sapp, was born around 1805 to 1810. This date is based on (1) listing order in will of John Sapp, (2) possible wedding year of 1826, and (3) birth of daughter Hester (1830). He was born in either OH (various) or PA (according to census data of son John Sapp) Nancy, daughter of William W. and Rebecca D. (Loar) Williams, was born 09-Sep-1809. Based on similar dates for Thomas and date supplied by another researcher. She was born in probably OH (various) or possibly NY (John Sapp census data). They married in 1826 in Hamilton Co, OH. Between 1826 and 1836, they had 3 children probably all born in OH, Hester b. 1830, a daugher b. 1831-1835 (somewhere in the gap), and John William b. 25-Mar-1836 in Madison Co, OH. (These three are mentioned as part of William W. Williams' will) Shortly after John's birth, they moved to Henry Co where they bought and sold land (Thomas Sapp to Wm Wirmer<?> Warranty; Oct 18, 1836 $350; Sec 8-17(14-50)). A short time later, William was born 22-May-1837 in Henry Co, IN (Civil War papers of William). Later (1838-1839) Thomas, Nancy, and their unnamed daughter died about the same time, possibly some disease. As William was born mid-1837, Thomas sold land (Thomas Sapp to Isiah Hoff; Dec 14, 1837), and the 1840 US Fed Census for Henry Twp, Henry Co, IN, shows a William Williams with 2 males under 5, a female 5-10, I would guess they all died between 14-Dec-1837 and the time of the 1840 census. Also, on family sheets sent by another researcher, notes state John Williams is to administer Thomas Sapp's estate. 1839". NOTES: ------ 1. I don't believe the Thomas Sapp in Fayette Co, IN is the same "family" as he was counted in the 1840 census and I believe our Thomas and Nancy had already died - their children were in the 1840 census with grandpa Williams. 2. I don't believe John had a twin brother. Among other reasons, the 1840 census; the court records which list only John and William (but no Andrew (who fought in the Civil War)); and not mentioned in William W. Williams will (what was his middle name?) 3. Birthdate of Thomas in records all seem based on 1.) Sapp Family History listing him as last born of John and Hettie, and 2.) apparent guess work of person who entered them into the LDS database. 4. The accuracy of both the Sapp Family History and the LDS files are highly questionable. 5. If Thomas was born in 1816, he would have been 10 when married, and 14 when Hester was born. 6. There seems to be a bit of "traffic" between Henry and Grant counties (IN). ================= Questions --------- 1. Where were Thomas and Nancy during the 1830 census? From Hamilton Co to Madison Co, OH? 2. When did they all die? Where are they buried? In Henry Twp, Henry Co, IN? 3. What did they die of/from?
