Bill, I must leave all of you for a while as I evidently had a power surge last week and toasted my 17" monitor and the upper range of my video card - which, of course, had to be an integral part of the motherboard of my Compaq Presario so couldn't just be replaced. TIP: Now I know - If your monitor suddenly goes off - TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER and wait a while before turning it back on, so if it was a power surge, the returning power won't ruin you. I had a cheap surge protector - when I get rewired, I'll certainly have a better one! Jackie Veen
