On page 4: "The immigrants from Allegany Conty, Maryland, settled in Knox County, Ohio, where George and Daniel had preceded them. George met an Indian, with whom he had made friends, who led him to a beautiful, small valley with lots of fresh water and hardwood trees, at a place near Owl's Creek near the Mohican River. The called it Sapp's Settlement, and there they built their log cabins, a stockade to protect them from the Indians and wild animals, and began to clear the land. "Daniel Sapp, son of George, surveyed the land and laid out a town in 1819. Sapp's Settlement was renamed Danville, Ohio, in his honor. His brother George, who came in 1805, was the first land owner, having bought 600 acres. Daniel was Justice of the Peace for 5 terms and his brother, Joseph, for 2 terms."...
