    3. Hi guys, just got through tallying the vote, out of our current 44 members, only 14 voted, and of those we had 12 yeses(sp), 1 no, and 1 don't care. We will proceed with the archiving of the messages then. The older messages (including the old Maiser archives) will be available via a clunky search engine (like that used for ROOTS-L on http://searches.rootsweb.com). I just checked our Sapp-L list and it is not up yet, but if you want to give it a whirl, take a look at http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl It does assume you know the name of the list you want to search. But it's not too fussy about how you type it: for the SMITH list, you can ask for smith, Smith, SMITH, smiTh-L, and SMith-D, and still succeed. It includes messages through about a week ago. I'll add new messages every week or two. (It took literally hours to do the indexing, and we'll have to turn the search off whenever we reindex, so this will only be done every few weeks unless we find a solution.) As an added note, the biggest concern is with spammers collecting the names of members, and then "showering" us with all this "free advertisements". Every effort is being taken by Brian, Karen, et al, to try and prevent this from happening. I have received a lot of this "free stuff", but hope it is not a problem with our list. I will add the archive address to the footers, and correct the ones I've already added, so you can check the archives.
