Hi, all Thought I'd let you know about my genealogy web page. I have links to lots of research sites, some arranged by state and country. These are only a few of the hundreds or thousands available out there. Here's my site address: http://members.aol.com/WordGenius/sites.html and here's a link to it (I'm never quite sure whether this works on non-AOL user messages): <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/WordGenius/sites.html">PIG ROAD GENEALOGY SITES</A>
Don't remember if I posted this before, but here is an address of someone who is looking for information on the family listed below: Virginia Hart Box 92 Pleasant Hill, IL 62366 (this is in Pike Co., IL) "SAPP: Catherine ZERENBURG m. John Sapp on Feb. 13, 1859. She died July 25, 1871. Did John SAPP remarry? What happened to their children? Children: Sarah, b. ca. 1860 Nancy, b. ca. 1863 Tabitha, b. ca. 1865, m. Laurence J. Pruit - where did they go? (m. 1886, and Laurence is son of George Pruit) Eliza, b. ca. 1868 Charles, b. ca 1870 This is no relation to me. I just found it when looking thru papers at the Pike Co. library on a trip I made earlier this year. Jeannie Smith

Hi, I ordered some films from LDS that just came in. They are the complete set of probate records from Pike Co. IL from 1821-1873. Several of the tapes are in and I'm going to be starting my search from Vol. 1 to Vol. 15 looking for my Jackson, Scholl, and Boone connections. I know there are some of you out there who have Pike Co. connections too, so I'm offering to keep my eye out for records or even search for specific ones to copy. Copies are $.25 per page at the Family History Center I go to, plus whatever postage. So send me some names and dates or even more specific records you're looking for. I'm hoping to find some will info and some naturalization info myself. I'll be going down Tuesday to start with the first volume. I think I ordered Vols. 1-15 of the Pike Co. IL Probate Court records. I have the tapes for 6 months. P.S. Close counties to Pike are Morgan, Scott, and Sangamon. Jeannie Smith (wordgenius@aol.com)
HI Carol, I checked my All-Sapps database, and all I have is what you gave me. Don't you have the info I sent you on John Sapp? Do you have any children of Hilliard (Helard, Hilleard) SAPP?-Bill
I than all who responded to my Test, it wasn't necessry, but I do appreciate it. It had gotten so quiet after I posted one of the suggestions on collaborating our research, I thought I had been kicked off the list.<g> I am still on, but I would like us to come up with some way to forward our research, and maybe get some answers that have been eluding us (me). give it some thought and post to the list so everyone can join in the discussion.-Bill
Cousins, My Hilliard (Helard, Hilleard) SAPP was the son of John SAPP who was m. to Winnie ANDERSON. John's father - also named John in some records; Jesse in others, was from Calvert county, MD. Some records show that Hilliard was b. in Rhea county, TN - but there was an early Hilliard SAPP in SC - was this an uncle? Are there TWO Hilliard SAPPs? Also - who was the early CANNON that was m. to a SAPP in Blount county, AL? Carol (very confused)
Just to see if I am still on the list.<g> Bill
Mitchell sent me something and I think it is okay with him to post to the list. Look it over and post any other ideas to the list so we can all get a shot at it.<G> Tell us (the list) what you think.-Bill ======================================================= i'VE SPENT THE BETTER PART OF THE EVENING DOING A LITTLE OF WHAT I THOUGHT MIGHT HELP CLEARIFY THE CONCEPT OF A TIMELINE WITH SOURCES. SEE ATTACHMENT AS DEMO. Maybe some discussion would > help to. WHAT DO YOU THINK. we need to zero in on the 1620-1790 Sapp's. Via a concerted and well directed plan. Here is my proposal: We know that they came into "America" or were born around 1620-40. Do we have other names beside John Sapp? We need a range of approx. Birth / death dates for each individual. Lets devise a master chart only to show these birth, residence and death events: Now put in the dates of the earliest Sapps mentioned. Get the idea. This will give us some idea of the causes of migration/imigration to America. That will in turn give us geographical areas, ideas and time frames to search for records. Greetings Seekers, Thought I'd toss my bread upon the waters and see if anybody bites. I have Martha Emiline SAPP in my tree with no clue as to who her folks were, perhaps some one can help. Martha Emiline SAPP b. Sept. 28, 1812 in central Tenn. m. June 23, 1830 d. Dec. 25, 1878 Martha married George Clinton Barrett in 1830 and had 10 children. They lived in (or around) Cannon County, Tennessee untill after the Civil War at which time at least one son moved to Texas ending up in Grayson County. According to my Aunt Mary PARKS, six of Martha's sons were in the Confederate Army and all survived the war. So if some kind soul can shed any light on Martha and her folks I would greatly appreciate the help. Best regards, Marcus Hill mlh3@nexus.mwsu.edu Wichita Falls, Texas
In a message dated 97-10-12 15:26:28 EDT, you write: << This experience exactly parallels the experience of the the English Puritans (Pilgrims) who settled at Plymouth. The Pilgrims went to Holland for religious freedom and left for America when their children were becoming Dutch culturally. Do you think that a part of the group came to a part of America other than Plymouth?>> I am sure there were other groups who left. The Separatists were another group that left with the Puritains. And I have no doubt that they settled all along the coast. The English BTW were not the only group that were afraid of loosing their culture. Several German religious sects left Holland and migrated to the Americas in order to preserve their culture. At one time Craig also told me that he had also heard that the brothers had brought a shipload of fine lumber to Maryland for Lord Baltimore and that is how they got the money to buy land in Maryland. The trouble with these stories is that like all oral traditions, they get mixed up and intertwined. (like why would they import lumber to a forest :-) ) Also, I am getting the story third hand sort a speak, as I never personally knew any of the Nebraska family. There are other stories of a plantation and slaves and the Civil War that I cannot corralate with what I know of when the family came to Nebraska. <<BTW, I assume you are part of the family that owns the Sapp Bros. truck stops in Nebraska (the ones with the big coffee pot on the roof). >> No, I don't think that we are closely related, if at all. I don't believe that they claim any relation to our family (that I am aware of). Marge in WY Marge Sapp Mickelson
