2. Hi everyone. I thought I would put this out to see if I could find some relatives. I am researching the Willis family of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio and I am looking for anyone descended from the following family. Abigail (Abbie) was the sister of my ggg grandfather Isaac Willis. Although the main part of the family stayed in Jefferson Co., Ohio, some of them spread to Indiana, Kansas, and Arizona. Note that the family moved from Delaware to Boone County Missouri. Son John is not the father as the only son he has whose name starts with W married in 1843 to a Louisa (unless your Susan was a second wife). BTW, this is not my own family, it belongs to my client, Marilyn Roberts who is descended from John and Marium. Note Marium is also a Sapp, possibly the daughter of a Matthew Sapp of whom we know nothing further. If anyone knows about that branch, we would love to know more. 3. Hello, I am very new at Sapp research. The small amout of information that I have is not yet proven . W.B. Sapp b: c.1829 was married to Susan J. ? b: c.1831. They lived in Cedar Twp. Boone Co., Missouri. They had four children, Nancy K. b: c.1856, Cassie b: c.1858, Mary b: c.1861, and Malissa b: c.1863. Malissa married George Melloway in 1883 and was his second wife. They had three children Clara N. b: 1883, Frank b: 1885, and Florence b: 1895. Does anyone have any Missouri Sapp's in their tree? Is W.B. Sapp familiar to anyone? 2. I am looking for parents (would be my great great grandparents) and siblings of Bennett (possible middle name Manuel) Sapp. He was born in the late 1800's and died in North Florida around 1940 or so. I know he had a sister named Minnie. First marriage - wife's name unknown. They had two children -names unknown. Second marriage was to Annie Elizabeth Arnold. Their children born towards end of 1800's and beginning of 1900's: Olin Sapp, Johnny Sapp, Lonnie Sapp, Bennett Dempsey Sapp, Talmadge Sapp, Lois Sapp Heirs, Abner Roscoe Sapp (born 8/04), and Eddie Darlin Sapp. Annie took the children to Plant City, Florida, but Bennett stayed behind in North Florida. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks.

1. John Sapp
2. George Sapp
3. John Sapp (ref #21 in "History of the Sapp Family, by J Gooden Sapp & W H Stanley) was born about 1737. That was the year his father, who I think is Daniel Zab, landed in Philadelphia on the ship Andrew Galley and signed the Oath of Allegiance. John farmed in Baltimore County, in a tax district called Pipe Creek Hundred, where he lived in 1773. He may be the John Sapp who took the Oath of Allegiance at Annapolis in 1776. John probably took to hunting and gathering ginseng root from a cabin on the Ohio near present Wierton W.Va.. He moved his family to Kentucky in about 1787. He is on the tax list there in Madison Co in 1787, with 2 boys 16-21, 2 horses and 12 cattle. I wonder how he got the cattle to his new land at Otter Creek, near Daniel Boone's fort on the Kentucky River. There, his 9th child Hartley was born in 1787. His children were: Margaret, b 1764/1767, d 1806/1808, m Richard West, Sr George (Kentucky George), b abt 1766, d 1853, m Margaret Logsdon John, b abt 1767, d 1833, m Isabella Gray Frederick R, b abt 1770, d 1836, m Hester Morgan Mary, b abt 1771, d ?, m Richard Prior Patience, b 1774/1779, d bef 1804, m Jonathan West Edward, b abt 1775, d 1843, m Elizabeth Seaton Nancy, b abt 1775, d abt 1805, unmarried Hartley, b 1787, d 1840, m Polly Wilson They farmed there, John, John Jr., "Kentucky George", and Frederick, until about 1795, then moved north to Pendleton County, near the Ohio River. Pioneers were beginning to move into Ohio, and the Sapps were poised to join them. John Sr. died in Kentucky in 1803, about the time his sons bought land across the river in Clermont County, Ohio. John Jr., Frederick, and Edward moved there in about 1802, when there were only about 600 men in the county. GG Sapp

3. OK, off the top I'll admit I'm not exactly related to any SAPPs, but my daughter got married in January, and since I gave her a family tree from my side as a wedding present, I'm honor bound to do the groom's side as well. Here's what I know so far: John E. SAPP (b. abt 1869 in IL, parents unknown) m. Carrie MARSHALL (b. abt 1884 in IL, parents unknown), date unknown, but before 1915. Children - Carl SAPP b. abt 1915 in IL Roy SAPP b. abt Sep 1916 in IL Elbert Paul SAPP b 10 May 1920 in Delafield, Hamilton, Illinois, d. 26 Apr 1997 in Stafford, Stafford, Virginia. Elbert Paul SAPP m. Helen Spence BRIZENDINE (b. 21 Nov 1921 in DuQuoin IL, d. 23 Feb 1990, daughter of Clarence BRIZENDINE b. Jan 1880 in Champaign Co., IL and Jenny SPENCE) 16 Apr 1949. Children 4 LIVING I found Clarence BRIZENDINE in Ancestral File and am still working on documenting that line. So far I have confirmation in the 1920 census Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL, with Clarence asserting he and his parents came from TN. His wife and her sister living with them both came from MS, as did their parents. I found John E. SAPP, wife Carrie M. and sons Carl and Roy in the 1920 census Hamilton Co. IL Dahlgren Twp. #4, with several SAPPs in IL, but none in the same county. None of the other families are of an age to be John E. SAPP's parents. John said he was born in IL, but both his parents came from TN. The couple appears without children in the 1910 census, Hamilton Co., IL. If anyone here sounds familiar, please drop me a line. My co-mother-in-law has supplied some information, but I'm all the way across the country from her and her family, so interviewing is difficult. Thanks! Victoria L. Sullivan vlsulliv@jps.net

3. Dumb me, I thought everybody knew where Claxton was! Go south from Atl. on I-16 towards Savannah. At the Metter exit, take 129 S. or if you pass that, at the Statesboro exit, take 301 S. About 15 mi. before Claxton, on 129, take 169 E. and watch for the signs to the reunion. On 301 S. about 11 mi. before Claxton, take 169 W, then watch for the signs. If you wind up in Claxton, just ask someone where is Massey Pond House. You will be in the heart of Sapp country. Post some of your ancestors to the list, maybe one of our cousins already knows your grandparents.-Bill -----Original Message----- From: THREEEZP@aol.com <THREEEZP@aol.com> To: SAPP-L@rootsweb.com <SAPP-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, July 01, 1998 3:39 PM Subject: Re: SAPP-D Digest V98 #42 >Where is Claxton, GA related to Atlanta? 1. Re: Claxton, Georgia
2. Claxton is in Evans County, Georgia west of Statesboro, Georgia. Claxton is the "Fruit Cake Capital" of the world. All those Claxton Fruit Cakes you see in the stores come from there. Most of its history and people are well documented and available through family histories and manuscripts. Lots of Sapps were founders and early pioneers of Tattnall County, Georgia and can be found in their county records over the years. Many Sapp descendants still live in the area. Evans County was carved out of Tattnall and Bulloch County later. Some Sapps also lived in Bryan County, Georgia. Bulloch County Genealogy Department Statesboro Regional Library has a good genealogy department that would include Evans and Tattnall counties. Georgia USGenWeb State Page - You should be able to find a webb site for Tattnall and or Evans County at this site. You can read and post inquiries at these sites about your Sapp and related families. Good luck with your research. Al Chassereau Savannah, GA AChasserea@aol.com P.S. Claxton, Georgia would be near I-16 between Macon and Savannah at exit 29 at Hwy. 301. Turn right on 301 for Claxton and turn left on 301 for Statesboro.

2. Where is Claxton, GA related to Atlanta? We are in Atlanta, and I've just started my family tree. I am a Sapp and have so very little information. I can't find anything on our line before my great grandparents, so it's not much.
