    1. Henry Sapp Family
    2. Bill Boulineau
    3. I have received some info from my cousin, and in the papers are some family group sheets that indicated the following: William, Henry and Elijah Sapp came to St. George's Parish with their father, John Sapp, Sr. Henry Sapp, b. Burke Co., ca 1785, d. 1850, Tattnall Co. m. Dec 15, 1814, Jane Woodcock, b. Bulloch Co(ca 1786, d. 1850 Tattnall). Henry Sapp's father: Shadrack Sapp children: Elizabeth, b.1816, Liberty Co., m. James Anderson Jane, b. 1818, died young Shadrach, b. 1819, Liberty Co. m. Martha C. Grace Elam, b. 1823, Tattnall, m. Sara Mikell Henry A., b. 1828, Tattnall, m. Nancy Holland John, b. 1835, Tattnall, died young. Shadrach is listed as having Shadrick Jr. (b. 1793 Burke Co.) and Henry (b 1785 Burke Co) Can anyone help prove or dis-prove the above?-Bill

    1. John of NC-GA-TN-AL-TX
    2. Seeking verification on some (or any) of the information concerning a John SAPP who is on the 1790 census of Stokes Co. NC. This is supposedly the John SAPP who married Elizabeth SANDERS. There are two males over 16 in the family. Is one John's father Benjamin or is it an adult son of John's by a previous marriage ? Does anyone know when Benjamin dies ? If there is a John Senr., does anyone know when he dies ? A John SAPP reportedly goes to GA and marries an Elizabeth KING. Anyone have any verification of this ? I have seen dates for the births of children by John and Elizabeth King. Does anyone know the source ? In examining census records, wills, court records, newspaper ads, etc. I have begun to formulate a somewhat different scenario than those presented by other researchers: I speculate that the John SAPP who traveled to GA was the son of the John SAPP who married Elizabeth SANDERS. That he was of a previous marriage and was the second male on the 1790 census. I think that John SAPP Senr. died between 1790 and 1800 and that Elizabeth SAPP on the 1800 census is a widow. I think that the majority of children enumerated on the 1800 Stokes census with Elizabeth SAPP are the children of the second adult female , not Elizabeth. (There is son evidence that James KING may have traveled to GA with John Jr. The second female could well be Elizabeth's sister, Mrs. KING) Only the one male is presumed to be the son of John Senr. and Elizabeth SANDERS. This would be the male over 10 who appears on the 1810 census. The second female 16-26 is unaccounted. I believe that the Elizabeth SAPP of the 1820 census is a totally different Elizabeth SAPP. Any help in supporting or destroying this scenario would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ted

    1. Closed Lists Announcement
    2. Bill Boulineau
    3. Hi Gang, just a quick announcement, All the Surname lists at Rootsweb have been closed. What this means to you is Nothing! All it means is if someone is not subscribed to a list, they will not be able to post to that list. Rootsweb had to close the lists due to Spam, it was taking more of the techs time getting rid of the Spam, and they didn't have enough time to serve us, the customers. If a post comes to the list from a non-subscriber, it will be bounced to me, and I will decide whether or not to forward it to the list. I have always opted for open lists, they are easier to use, but the Spam is just getting horrible. (Personal opinion. If you want to do something to help the situation, write your Federal elected representives and urging them pass legislation like the legislation prohibiting unwanted Faxes.) William L. 2. Ancestry just added the following database to their list of hundreds of databases. For those of you that do not subscribe to Ancestry and who are searching for ancestors in Boone County check it out for free the next ten days at Ancestry.com (click on search new databases) I listed the Sapps below for those of us trying to find the Sapp in our trees! Good luck and happy hunting! Melody Description: Created in 1820, just a year before Missouri was admitted to the Union, Boone County was home to over 25,000 people in 1880. Between 1871 and 1891, the county was served by the Columbia Missouri Herald newspaper. This database is a collection of over 5500 obituaries from the newspaper for these years. Information provided includes name of the deceased, date of birth or age at time of death, and the issue date of the obituary. For researchers of Missourian ancestors, this can be a valuable database. 3. I finally got through the book, Historical Collection of the Joseph Habersham Chapter, Daughters American Revolution, Vol III. I am a little disappointed, namely because I didn't find very much, but did find a couple of itemes that may be of interest. Bryan Co. General Index to Deeds before 1850 Sapp, Darling The courthouse burned in 1866, so I don't know what happened to the deed. Burke Co. Will Book 1853-1870 Sapp, Mary T. Sapp, Everett Sapp, John This courthouse burned in 1870, so don't know if the will survived or not. I found a few of my other family names, but nothing earth-shattering. Hope none of you bought the book, I am looking to donate mine to a library. There is supposed to be a Vol II of this book, if anyone knows of it, please let the list know, it is supposed to contain additional information on these GA counties.-Bill

I have some small bits of info from a book called The Ga Black Book, listing of scoundrels, murderer's, thiefs and other relatives. If anyone has a copy or access to this, I would like a look-up. 2. Bill Boulineau
    3. This is probably to late, but this past weekend, the internet broke down, the backbone got disconnected, and some really bad things began to happen. The cause was another spammer, but most of it is back up and still being straightened out. Rootsweb was caused to delay some postings, but hopefully, none were lost. I have been getting mail that I sent back in Sept., several, but I have to believe this is caused by the backbone problem. If it is, it should clear up in a few days as the system flushes itself. Obviously, some of my mail was archived someplace, and it got sent out to the lists. If you have any questions on anything you get that doesn't make sense, excluding this message, drop me a line and we will try to get it straight.-Bill William L. 1. Elbert Paul SAPP IL>VA
    2. VICTORIA L SULLIVAN
    3. Hello, folks I'm doing some research on a brand new branch of the family. My daughter got married this year, so I have all kinds of new relatives. Right now, I'm looking into the family of Elbert Paul SAPP (b. 10 May 1920 in Delafield, Hamilton Co., Illinois, d. 26 April 1997 in Stafford, Stafford Co., Virgina) m. 16 Apr 1949 Helen Spence BRIZENDINE (b. 21 Nov 1921 DuQuoin, Illinois, d. 23 Feb 1990). They had five children (all LIVING). Elbert was the son of John E. SAPP (b. abt 1869) and Carrie MARSHALL (b. abt 1884 in Illinois). He had two older brothers - Carl SAPP (b. abt 1915 in Illinois) and Roy SAPP (b. Sep 1916). Clearly, from the dates, this looks like a second marriage. John would have been 46 when Carl was born, but I have no more information. It may be that John just married late. Or it may be that there are other children I haven't been told about. These are the only ones I know of. If anyone sounds familiar, please drop me a line. Thanks! Victoria Sullivan vlsulliv@jps.net

    2. I am one of the new subscribers to the Sapp website and I have a query concerning the parents of George Sapp b c1818 in Ohio or possibly Kentucky. He married Isabella Haining/Haning 4 May 1843 in Athens Co, OH. They were the parents of twelve children, the eldest, William M. being my great-grandfather. George died 8 October 1891. I suspect many of the subscribers are from the southern branch of the family, but perhaps someone knows who George's parents were. Carol

    3. We have had several new subscribers to the list and I keep waiting to see their queries, but "nada". If you have some Sapp you are looking for, please post it to the list, you don't have to wait to be asked. All the lists are really slow, even Roots-L, but if you have some info to post, as long as it is related to Sapp research, just jump right in. I have received my copies of the seven CD's from the LDS, and they appear to be repeats of some of the earlier Marriage CD's I have for GA. There is only one CD on Births/Baptisms, the other five are marriages. I did find a couple of names I did not have before, but they also don't go back as early as my GA marriage CD's, but for $19 you can't hardly go wrong. As are most of you, I am researching about 20 surnames, all early GA/SC/NC/VA, and as you well know, those records are scarce as hen's teeth.-Bill

On page 4: "The immigrants from Allegany Conty, Maryland, settled in Knox County, Ohio, where George and Daniel had preceded them. George met an Indian, with whom he had made friends, who led him to a beautiful, small valley with lots of fresh water and hardwood trees, at a place near Owl's Creek near the Mohican River. The called it Sapp's Settlement, and there they built their log cabins, a stockade to protect them from the Indians and wild animals, and began to clear the land. "Daniel Sapp, son of George, surveyed the land and laid out a town in 1819. Sapp's Settlement was renamed Danville, Ohio, in his honor. His brother George, who came in 1805, was the first land owner, having bought 600 acres. Daniel was Justice of the Peace for 5 terms and his brother, Joseph, for 2 terms."...
