    1. Free PAF 4.0
    2. Bill Boulineau
    3. Everyone that has a browser, and would like a free copy of PAF 4.0, click on this address: http://familysearch.org/ select the purchase LDS software, or something like that, and go to the bottom of the next screen, there is the option to download a free copy. You will have to register, but that only takes a few seconds, and you do not have to be a registed PAF user. It took me about 1/2 hour to download, and I have a slow internet connection. You will actually get two programs, Setup and PAF40.exe, just click on the Setup, tell it which folder you want it in and it will do the rest. I made the mistake of telling it to go into PAF 3.0 folder, but it seems to run okay. I would recommend putting it in a different folder. It is pretty slick, looks okay, and I converted one of my family databases to PAF 4.0, which it does automagically. I think it looks a lot better than FTM 6.0 that I have a copy of, but I haven't run any reports yet. If someone does, please post your likes, dislikes to the list.-Bill

    2. Reading your message again, see you had 3.0 already so it converted your database automatically. While my program had me go thru a File-Search-Open-Name process to convert from 2.31 to 4.0. Hope someone else has converted from 2.31 and can help. Thanks Jackie

    1. Re: Free PAF 4.0
    2. Bill, I did everything it said, I THINK, but when it asked where I wanted the file to go I put "PAF 4 data" Now that name appears, together with another that is "PAF 4", but I cannot access the data. So I can't even be sure the data was converted from 2.31 which I had. I tried to access the "Feedback" section in LDS for PAF 4, but never could get in yesterday afternoon or evening. I haven't tried it yet today - and if no one is going to answer me, I'm not sure what good it will do anyway! Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    1. Shadrack Sapp Family Reunion
    2. Mitchell Sapp
    3. The descendents of Shadrack Sapp(b. ca: 1750-60 in GA.) and his wife Nancy Anna Parker Sapp will have their 15th annual reunion on July 3, 1999 at Hart Springs County Park in Gilchrist Co. Fl. , just west of Trenton Florida. We will be in Pavilion A from 10:00am until 3:00. All relatives and friends and relatives are invited. Bring a covered dish dinner for your family and be willing and ready to partake of some of the finest of southern cooking and hospitality. I'll have lots of genealogy materials and photos on display as always. Shadrack Sapp and Nancy Anna Parker moved to Florida from Tattnall Co. Ga. in 1835. They left some of their family in Ga. and Some of the family came with them or came later. All Ga and Florida Sapps looking for family information are invited to attend and celebrate this great family.

    1. Sapp Reunion
    2. Bill Boulineau
    3. FYI, there will be a Sapp reunion July 24, in Claxton, GA. This is hosted by the descendants of Lester Sapp and Mattie Lee Boyett. It is a covered dish affair, at Massey Pond house, about four miles NE of Claxton. Just ask in Claxton where Massey Pond house is, everyone around there knows where it is. It is an informal affair, the building is A/C, thank goodness, but if you go outside, the mosquitos will haul you away, so bring bug-off. There is usually 100 or so Sapps, all cousins, in the local area, with the rest being relations. Yes, they have watermelons too! You don't have to be from this clan, they treat all Sapps the same, so if you happen to be in the area, drop by, starts about 11a.m.-Bill

    3. Just found a great new website if you have ancestors in VA. It is the VA State Library online. They have some land records that you can download the image in *.tiff format, or just look at some text. I didn't have much luck with any of the list surnames, but you might want to give it a try. "Obviously" this needs investigation and sourcing, as well as other pairs of eyes. -------------- Thomas, son of John and Hettie (Barcus) Sapp, was born around 1805 to 1810. This date is based on (1) listing order in will of John Sapp, (2) possible wedding year of 1826, and (3) birth of daughter Hester (1830). He was born in either OH (various) or PA (according to census data of son John Sapp) Nancy, daughter of William W. and Rebecca D. (Loar) Williams, was born 09-Sep-1809. Based on similar dates for Thomas and date supplied by another researcher. She was born in probably OH (various) or possibly NY (John Sapp census data). They married in 1826 in Hamilton Co, OH. Between 1826 and 1836, they had 3 children probably all born in OH, Hester b. 1830, a daugher b. 1831-1835 (somewhere in the gap), and John William b. 25-Mar-1836 in Madison Co, OH. (These three are mentioned as part of William W. Williams' will) Shortly after John's birth, they moved to Henry Co where they bought and sold land (Thomas Sapp to Wm Wirmer<?> Warranty; Oct 18, 1836 $350; Sec 8-17(14-50)). A short time later, William was born 22-May-1837 in Henry Co, IN (Civil War papers of William). Later (1838-1839) Thomas, Nancy, and their unnamed daughter died about the same time, possibly some disease. As William was born mid-1837, Thomas sold land (Thomas Sapp to Isiah Hoff; Dec 14, 1837), and the 1840 US Fed Census for Henry Twp, Henry Co, IN, shows a William Williams with 2 males under 5, a female 5-10, I would guess they all died between 14-Dec-1837 and the time of the 1840 census. Also, on family sheets sent by another researcher, notes state John Williams is to administer Thomas Sapp's estate. 1839". NOTES: ------ 1. I don't believe the Thomas Sapp in Fayette Co, IN is the same "family" as he was counted in the 1840 census and I believe our Thomas and Nancy had already died - their children were in the 1840 census with grandpa Williams. 2. I don't believe John had a twin brother. Among other reasons, the 1840 census; the court records which list only John and William (but no Andrew (who fought in the Civil War)); and not mentioned in William W. Williams will (what was his middle name?) 3. Birthdate of Thomas in records all seem based on 1.) Sapp Family History listing him as last born of John and Hettie, and 2.) apparent guess work of person who entered them into the LDS database. 4. The accuracy of both the Sapp Family History and the LDS files are highly questionable. 5. If Thomas was born in 1816, he would have been 10 when married, and 14 when Hester was born. 6. There seems to be a bit of "traffic" between Henry and Grant counties (IN). ================= Questions --------- 1. Where were Thomas and Nancy during the 1830 census? From Hamilton Co to Madison Co, OH? 2. When did they all die? Where are they buried? In Henry Twp, Henry Co, IN? 3. What did they die of/from?

    3. For those that may not get the Rootsweb Review: NEWS AND NOTES FROM ROOTSWEB THREADED LIST ARCHIVES ARE NOW AVAILABLE. Now you can read 122,813 messages from 877 mailing lists using your Web browser by visiting <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/>. All those messages are from just three months of beta tests -- watch this archives grow with its public debut. This is a remarkably comfortable way to browse through the posts that have been made to the lists. Be sure to use the integrated search engine to find what you are looking for. To use the Archiver you will need to pick a user name and password and you will need to accept a cookie. The reason for passwords and cookies is to keep spammers' e-mail address harvesters *out* of the archives. Because of this password-and- cookie feature, listowners can set up lists to be archived with confidence that they are *not* exposing posters' addresses to spammers. We encourage all RootsWeb listowners to visit the Archiver and then include their lists in the archives. The next step is to start making old list messages available. Thanks to Marc Nozell for implementing the threaded archives. It's great work. * * *
