    3. Also to Betty, According to Pioneers of Wiregrass GA, Neil Sapp married Mentie Strickland, d/o Stephen D Strickland & Miss (Polly) Poppell. Mentie born 1822. Mentie remarried to Johnson Richardson, so apparently Neil died, sorry I don't have the dates for this. (ref PWG vol 2 pg 262). The marriage of Neil & Mentie was recorded in Brooks Co GA, but I don't have the date handy. It can be found in the Brooks Co History (copy avail in the Cocoa FL library). Stephen D Strickland 1789-1865 per PWG and Polly Poppell was born in the 1790s, according to the Poppell List. Have we talked about this before? There are several Sapps who came into north FL from south GA, who could be Henry's kin. Wish someone could tell us who they were. 3. Per Bill Boulineau's suggestion, I am researching Neil Sapp who died in Stewart Co., Ga. in about 1878. We believe he was married to Margaret McLeod and had two children, Andrew Dawson Sapp and Ann Eliza Sapp (my great grandmother who married James H. Taylor in Suwannee Co., FL in 1878). 3. Hi Mike, Enjoyed your web page. I descend from George's son John. On your web page, you state that John was first married to Hettie Barkus and second to Charity Hays Putnam. My information, coming from the Sapp & Stanley "A History of the Sapp Family" shows his second wife to be Abigail Willis. There is a record of this second marriage on 29 Aug 1821 in Jefferson County, OH. I'd be interested in knowing your source for a marriage to Charity Putnam. 3. Mike, I checked out your web site. Great info. Thank you. I have a Henry Wade in my line that married a Mary Sapp on 8/13/1812. They were also from the Frostburg, Maryland area. Is this the same Mary that you show marrying a ? Myers. Were there other Mary Sapp's in the Frostburg area. I do remeber seeing two or 3 Mary Sapp's in the marriage record books in the Allegany Co. courthouse. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. 3. I have connections to the SAPPs of Knox Co, Ohio; mine were mostly in Muskingum Co, but those all seem to be connected. My line came from Allegany Co, MD (1770s) to Ohio, and on to Iowa. (No Georgia connections, ya'll...) Rather than try to copy a bunch of my Ohio stuff into a post, I'll refer you instead to my web page: <http://members.tripod.com/~smith_editorial/mksgen.html>. And anyone else who wants to check their data against what I have is, of course, more than welcome! 1. George Sapp/Lodi Twsp. Athens County Ohio/Sapp Research
    2. Hi Thank you everyone for the information. What I am looking for is probably a son of John Sapp and Hettie Barkus who married a Lydia ? b. in Va. My George was born 1815-1819, based on census, in Ohio. In south-eastern Ohio there is a small band of Sapps all living in the same local. Lydia (62) at census and James living in the same household,Sarah, George, Thomas. In an obituary for Thomas Sapp.b.06-15-1817 it was stated that he came to Meigs County Ohio by the fall of 1839. This may be partly factual but not documented. Per Sandy Harrison (apple@nwlink.com) in 1850 he was residing in Lodi township of Athens County and it wasn't until 1860 that he moved into Meigs County. The obituary also mentions two names that may be a good reference. Ballenger of Columbus, Ohio and Anthony of Illinois. In abt.1843-1845 Thomas sold land to George very close to the Meigs County boarder in Lodi township. I find just too many coincidences in the chain of events and proximity of places where they resided. Do you know where I can locate marriage records for Jefferson County? Also probably death records if as I surmise Lydia and her children moved to Southeastern Ohio after the death of her husband or the execution of a will which probably held all lands and monies until the youngest of ? children were able to inherit the estates. Any leads would be helpful. Listing of John Sapp and Hettie Barkus' Male Heirs: George @1790- per John Sapp (email sappjohn@erols.com)Re: George, after 1820 in Knox County Census. There is no further evidence of him residing in Knox. Co. Henry@1790 Thomas @1795 John @1798 Benjamin@1800 Joseph@1805 Daniel @1805 William@1805 /the first five inherited sums of money /the remaining children were to divided the property. I feel very strongly that there is a connection to the family of John Sapp and Hettie Barkus I do have a census from Jefferson County Ohio 1820. Knox twsp. that would seem to support this Re: George b.1790. It shows one George Sapp living in close proximity to John Sapp and the age ranges would be very close to Lydia, James, Sarah George and Thomas. circa 1820 Census Feel free to post or pass it on..Keep me posted on siblings of Thomas Sapp b.abt.1795.
