Hi Sherry, There is a lady in Lufkin, Texas who is researching Greenberry SANFORD who was born in 1814 in Georgia. He married Permelia (Melia) WEAVER in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama on 14 Jun 1837. According to family stories, Greenberry died in Orange, Texas during or shortly after the Civil War and Melia carried their adopted daughter, Mary Catherine, back to Tuscaloosa to live. Melia's brother, George J. H. T. WEAVER, a Civil War veteran and a young widower, fell in love with Mary Catherine and they were married 21 Apr 1871 in Tuscaloosa. It is believed that Greenberry SANFORD was related to Melia WEAVER but how close kin is unknown - his parents are unknown.
