I have searched most of my records & sources for Pernicia Slaughter and can find nothing new. I do have a zerox of a picture of "Fannie & John Slaughter Samford" No other information. I think I got the picture from Jackie Hilton who is Supt of Schools in Pineland TX. (from me: Can anyone validate that John Slaughter Samford's parents were Uriah Samford and Pernicia Slaughter? or Elkanah Samford?) One individual who puzzles me is George Crittenden Samford. He shows up in "Our Dead" (which is a cemetery listing for Shelby county) b. 13 Apr 1852 d. 24 Aug 1929 f. Elkanah Samford but he shows up in the family of William Amasa Samford. There is also an earlier George Crittenden Samford born in 1815. (Another of Elkana's children Mary Ann married a George Crittenden Bittick) Census 1880 Shelby Co. TX SD1 ED87 p. 45/24 #346 1860 census list J S age 6; 1870 census lists John S. age 17; NOT shown in Elkanah's bible record; Mazell lists as child of Elkanah's; There is a picture of an individual identified as John Slaughter Samford who appears to be about 60 to 70 years old.; Is he a twin of Josephine's?; Fannie Pearl Samford Stone, who was a grand daughter of Elkanah Sr. stated that there were several sets of twins in his family.
