Dear Jim: A Frances Sanford was unmarried on 22 Jan 1739/40 when her father William Sanford (Robert1) drew his will His wife evidently predeceased him her maiden name is not known but her name was Jemima. It is not proven whether the Frances Sanford who married Demse Carrol was the daughter of William or one of the unnamed daughters of Robert Sanford3 (Robert2 Robert1). John Sanford ( Robert2 Robert1)in his will dated Oct 1 1776 provided for his grandchild Francis Sanford. The known son of John Sanford was Willoughby Sanford, yet no research haas been discovered that mentions a child of Willoughby's as being Frances.
