Hope it works! I was crawling around in my Grandmothers atic this weekend and found OLD photos and info about my family dating back to at least 1643. I want ot begin research on my grandfathers mothers side as they are from the Elkton VA area. I will start with just the following info and hope someone can point me in the right direction and give me some hints on where to go to find more stuff - THIS STUFF IS FACINATING!!! Samuel Patrick Henry (S.P.H.) Miller M.D. born- ?? early to mid 1800's died- ?? I have a picture of him taken in 1863 and one that was taken during the Civil War. A later picture was produced by Campbell & Co, 429 Broad St, Richmond VA (not dated but he is older in this pic) I also have a picture of a house and written on the back is " Dr S.P.H. Miller's birth place & head quarters of Gen Jackson when in valley". Not sure which valley but believe this was in/near elkton but am not up on civil war history. Where were Gen jackson's HQs located????? S.P.H.'s daughter's are Nina Estelle Miller (Sanford)(my grandfathers mother) b: mar 16 1873 d: dec 27 1962 AND Besse Miller (Lauton) I have a pic of these sisters together dated Sep 9 1897. Nina Married Claud Singleton Sanford b: mar 12 1870 d: feb 16 1955 their son, my grandfather Claud Miller Sanford Sr b: feb 26 1916 Greenwood SC d: Jul 11 1989 This stuff is really neat but I dont know whwere to begin or how to organize to begin and log the results of my research.
