I am looking for any information on my great-grandfather Morgan Sanford who lived and died in or around Elmore County Alabama. He died (just an educated guess) about 1900. His wife was Mattie Lou Vickers d. 1932. I would like to know their parents names so that I can continue my search. Morgan and Mattie Lou had five (5) sons James Newton, Cody, Bob, Sellie Kyle and Lee. Sellie Kyle Sanford (b. 1889) was my grandfather who left Alabama in the late 1920s and settled in northeastern Louisiana (his second wife, my grandmother, was Eunice Evans b. Winston County Alabama 1902; it is my understanding that his first wife's name was Nell and their children were Roy, Lois, Mary Nell and Annie Ruth). I have been told that Morgan was murdered by a farm worker (family legend indicates that this farm worker was a former slave) when his children were quite small. I am still attempting to kleen information from my father's elderly first cousins whom I have recently located in Elmore county (when my grandfather left Alabama in the late 1920s he went missing for 25 to 35 years.......relatives in Alabama didn't know if he was dead or alive.....consequently, neither my father nor I have had contact with these fine relatives until I located them just a few weeks ago).
