I recently found the son of the SANFORD family I am searching for and obtained a copy of his application for social security. It said: Marvin Denver Sanford B. April 23, 1897 in Fall River,, SD Father - DeForest Sanford Mother - Ethel Dane Brooke He was working for Union Publishing Co., 583 Market St., San Francisco, Ca. On his mother's obituary - January 9, 1931 Oakland, Ca. San Leandro Jan 9. - Funeral rites were conducted yesterday afternoon for Mrs. Ethel Brooke Sanford, 54, wie of a local publisher, who died at an Oakland Hospital after an illness of a few weeks. The funeral was held at the Santo's undertaking parlors under the auspices of the Oakland Unity Center. Pallbearers were: City Manager W.A. Richmond, City Clerk, Edgar F. Hutchings, Fred W. Smiley, L.S. Pratt, former City treasurer, Rudy Marshall, ex-newspaper publisher and Judge W. J. Gannon, Banker. The deceased, resident of San Leandro for serveral years, was the wife of DeForest Sanford, the mother of Marvin and the daughter of Lawrence Brooke of Washington. She is also survived by a brother and sister, Hastings and Bessie Brooke, of Washington and Texas, respectively.
