    1. Query: John Sanford of Granville Co., NC
    2. Betty Rose
    3. Trying to determine relationship of John Sanford, if any, to my other relatives, who live near him in the 1850 Granville Co., (Goshen Dist.) NC census. He is shown as age 45, with wife Mary, age 26, and three girls: Mary E., age 18; Emily, age 16; and Martha, age 13. (I am thinking that they could possibly be the daughters of Lucy Davie Sanford Tuck. Lucy was married to Thomas J. Sanford, son of Robert Sanford and his second wife Mary...they married in 1833 in Person County and he had died by 1841. She then (quickly! married John Wesley Tuck and had children....he then married two more times.) I don't know if Lucy died.....and the three girls by the Sanford marriage perhaps went to live with their uncle? I believe the Lucy Davie Sanford Tuck children remained with John W. Tuck and his 2nd wife...I am going to check on this.) I cannot find them in the 1860 census in Granville or Person counties. He is living two doors away from Elmyra (Elmina)Foard Sanford (some spell it Sandford) widow of Ambrose Sandford. She has 5 children living with her.....in the 1860 census a son, Ambrose Sanford is shown as 10 years of age. I can never find him again, either! Elmina's daughter, Nancy A., age 8 in the 1850 census, married a Harris and was widowed with a son....in the 1870 census she is shown living with her mother and her son and one of her brothers and his wife. The other brother, wife and child live next door. The son, John T. Sanford, was killed in the Civil War, I believe. Nancy went on to marry a James S. Pool, and I am from that line. Any ideas on the John Sanford deal would be appreciated, and if any one is related to Elmina Foard Sanford, then we are cousins!!
