I don't have any info re: Sanford Martin families in the South as you indicate. There is another "Sanford/ Martin tie in in Marion County OH where there were lots of Sanfords and martins. Amasa Bernard Sanford md Polly Martin about 1820 and they had several children (about 10 as I remember). Polly Martin was from the Martin line that was from Piscataway NJ. I know nothing more about Amasa Sanford other than the fact that he married twice more after wives died and eventually died in Michigan City, Indiana. Piscataway was getting too crowded apparently and Jacob Martin (Polly's grandfather) led a group of 7th Day Baptists to settle in Ohio. Polly and Amasa were md in Jefferson County, OH and migrated to Marion Co., shortly thereafter.
