    1. [SANFORD] Re: Is there a Sanford Family Association or anything of the sort?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Sanford Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4FFBAIB/942.2.1 Message Board Post: A few weeks ago a question on a Sanford family association, which might not be a good idea as not knowing just exactly how many Sanford males came from Europe, and making the assumption that all Sanfords have the same ethnic backgrounds and came from Europe, which is probably bogus. A few of my distant cousins have taken portions from "Thomas Sanford: The Emigrant to New England, Ancestry, Life and Descendents 1632-4" by Carlton Sanford and have incorported there own work. John Sanford (a frequent poster on Roots List ( http://lists.rootsweb.com/ : select "S") and a few other forums. You can use the "all sites" search form at the top of the page for the following; you might not "hit" them however. http://www.genealogy.com/allsearch.html?Welcome=1040864070 Bruce Bender did a 52 "page" report, but did have to drop out lines. The book is two volumes. It looked OK but I haven't gone over it in detail. Dennis BeMent also did not drop it down as far as Carlton Sanford did, although he certainly took it further up!! Again, I only glanced at my own line. Ancestrial Files, Well they looked OK until compared against notes taken from the book. And the book resembles Jacobus although Jacobus doesn't come down far enough. It also has errors which caused me to have to get more material on a direct ancestor as if a death certificate and delayed birth certificate were not enough. The wrong year came directly from the book. A few other signiture errors also occur. Merry Christmas dear cousins and Sanford researchers.
