Herbert Jonah SANFORD, b 1 Apr 1861 in Hopkington, NY; md 28 June 1882 to Bertha Olivia, dau of Varick A. and Charlotte (RISDON) CHITTENDEN, b 21 Mar 1862 in Hopkington, NY. They had 4 issue, 2 of whom died in infancy. The other two were: a) Alice E., b 23 Dec 1887 b) Varick Risdon, b 2 Feb 1898 These two people were alive in 1915. Herbert was a brother of Carlton E.
