Jesse W. SANFORD was born about 1844 in SC, he married Eliza A. BROOM in Oconee Co., SC about 1868 just before they migrated to McMinn Co., TN with her parents Burrell and Mary Ann ( POWELL) BROOM. Their first child Burrell SANFORD was born about 1869 either in McMinn Co., TN while still in Oconee Co., SC. They are next found in Randolph Co., AR, again migrating with the parents of Eliza A. BROOM SANFORD. They are found on the 1870 Census in Randolph County and are found in the membership of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church that stood where the Roach Cemetery now is located in Hamil, Randolph Co., AR. This is the last record I have been able to find. I have no idea as to what happened to Jesse, Eliza and Burrell SANFORD after 1870. Would love to know if anyone else has this SANFORD family in their database. Kathleen Burnett
Is anyone researching LAWRENCES in Westchester County, New York? I have gggrandfather, Edwin Lawrence (c. 1801-1882) of North Castle. He married Phebe Unknown. Their children, so far as I know, are: John m. Jane A. (possibly Avery) Alfred m. Sarah M. David A. m. Ann Amelia Cannon of New Jersey George m. (1) Trythenia Sanford, (2) Mary E.) Ann Augusta d. young Lucretia d. young Phebe Jane d. young Mary Jennette d. young Phebe d. abt. 1851 and Edwin married (2) Lydia Banks, widow of John Banks (Lydia may have been a Finch), (3) Hannah. Edwin, Phebe and their four daughters, as well as Lydia, are buried in the Lawrence plot at Middle Patent Cemetery. There apparently are others buried in that plot but their graves are unmarked. I would love to hear from anyone who is researching this family. I have records and other information I am willing to share. Thanks, Louise Williams Arnold, CA

" My gt gt gt grandfather was Presley Arnold Sanford, who was born about 1801 VA and died during the Civil War at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on December 2, 1862. I believe he is a brother to a Meredith Sanford, who died in Franklin County February 18, 1855. His parents were John and Nancy Sanford. I suspect that one of the women who married Sanford's was an Arnold mainly due to the fact that Presley's middle name was Arnold. I also suspect that John Sanford was the son of a John P. Sanford, who died in Franklin County December 14, 1840. His wife was Ann M., however, I don't known her maiden name. "

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4FFBAIB/643.650.1.1.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Hey, its worth looking into. About two weeks ago I finished a scan of the 1850 census, and the only match I found was an "A" Sanford in Habersham Co. His parents were the ones in the subject line. I've since found that the Sanford family moved west just after the 1850 census was taken, and of the 8 siblings, Albert was the only one that descendents of the others have no information on. "My" Albert married in Harris Co, GA in 1854, but was not present in the 1850 census, so he moved there after 1850 (or just HID really well). I DO know that his wife was Elizabeth Ann Edwards, daughter of John H. & Nancy Edwards. The path that the rest of the family seemed to take runs farther north into Resaca, GA, where the oldest daughter settled, then into TN where J&J settled, into Franklin Co, AL where one bro died abt 1865 & one sister married, and finally into AR where the 5 remaining siblings (I believe) ended up. To make a long story a bit shorter, I've credited Albert as being the 2d of 8 children to Jesse & Jane, but have no proof; he was the only one that seems to match, and most things seem to fall in place. I guess until I have a DNA test done with a known descendent of J&J, I won't really know. I would LOVE to take a look at any information you have to see if it makes a strong case for consideration. You can continue to post, or email me @ Jusomguy@Comcast.net. Dave
