I am sending you separately, a few attachments of charts from the Mormon Church records which show the information on them and Bridget Hutchinson. Some of the files show their descendants in the 1700s. If you need more information, you can probably get it from the Mormon Church. Best regards, Ken Sanford
I have the John Sanford Genealogy by Jack Minard Sanford, published in 1966. It is also in many libraries. Where do you live? I am descended from his son, Samuel Sanford who was from John Sanford's first wife, Elizabeth (Webb) Sanford. I am also on AOL and I am frequently on-line, if you wish to "instant message" me, please do so. Ginny codfish@aol.com

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4FFBAIB/1033 Message Board Post: I have finished my pass through these descendants, adding information from all public records I could find. I started from the 1911 genealogy, assuming its records are correct unless self-contradictory, or contrary to some primary source. I used the censuses, SSDI, and sometimes Family Search and Rootsweb (if the data looked convincing) to add info. This took a lot longer than I expected, about two months. I solicit all additions or corrections. Some of the additions will not be directly visible in Rootsweb, because they were born in the last 100 years and have no death date, but the census data is listed under the father, so some will be indirectly visible. In doing this I removed all dates-by-rule for this part of the tree, that is all death dates listed as 70 years after the birth were assumed to be ficticious, as were birth dates based on the male spouse being four years older the the female. These dates pollute every on-line Sanford tree I've seen, with a few exceptions. For the results, see http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rtegen&id=I00163

H. Sanford age 6 appears in the 1930 census as the son of Elmer A. Sanford Age 52 and Clara P. age 51 in Watertown NY ED 65 p 16. All born in NY, parents born in NY. Unfortunately I can't find an entry for Elmer in the 1880 census, on line at familysearch.com, so I can't find his father. There are four Elmer Sanfords born in NY in the 1880 census, none of which is a particularly good fit. The book referred to is probably a 1911 genealogy that contains the names of about 18000 sanford descendants. I also couldn't find any good fits there. Could be a reversed name, i.e. A. Elmer Sanford - very common in those days. A suggestion - put the name of the person you're looking for, when born and where he was in the title of future posts. "Sanford family tree" is not very distinctive in a group dedicated to Sanford genealogy :-)

The children I have listed as the children of Thomas Sanford and Lucy Kellogg do not include the Elizabeth Sanford in the following book. She was born in 1762 (which works with the birthdate of Caleb) but this doesn't work with the birthdates I find online for Lucy Kellogg and Thomas Sanford in the following book posted at the UofM Digital Site. Author: Caverly, Abiel Moore, 1817-1879. Title: History of the town of Pittsford, VT., with biographical sketches and family records. By A.M. Caverly. Publication date: 1872. Caleb Cooley In the spring of 1784, he commenced the construction of a plank house upon the small clearing he had made, and on the 6th day of May married Elizabeth Sanford of Weybridge, and at once commenced to occupy the unfinished house. Miss Sanford, the bride, was a lady of rare excellence of character-- She was born April 26, 1762, and was a daughter of Thomas Sanford, who was among the first settlers of Weybridge, (in 1775,) ---- (Note: According to what I find at Rootsweb he was born in 1774 married`in 1795 to Lucy who was born in 1780 which was 18 years after Elizabeth, who was supposed to be her daughter was born) Elizabeth was married to Caleb in 1784 as already mentioned. (Note:The ages of their children range from 1785 to 1801. Which doesn't work with the ages given for her parents.) Joseph Kellogg married Mary Cushman and was father of Amos (b 1760), Joseph, Isaac, Edward, Elijah and Frederick and Lucy who married Thomas Sanford of Weybridge and was the mother of Mrs Caleb Cooley (Elizabeth Sanford b. 1762) I have found no documentation to straighten this out, I would appreciate any and all information any one can offer. Please email me at ssanfordg@fuse.net Thanks Sandie
Hi Richard, thanks for the response anyhow. Will have to keep on searching. Thanks again, Muriel
Hi Muriel, I do not have a John SANFORD in my file. Gideon Sanford moved from Rensselaer County to Fulton County about 1845. All of my information pertains to the SANFORDS from Fulton County. There was another Gideon SANFORD who lived in the western part of New York State. That may be the person you have seen. Richard From the Shores of Grand Traverse Bay
Sorry, it doesn't fit in my research. The SANFORD line I am researching is from VA. Good luck in your search. Margo
Hi Richard, I have been searching for John Sanford, wife Letta, daughter Eliza Jane. She married Henry Myers and they lived in Town Of Porter, Niagara County, New York. Henry and Elia Jane live here , don't know about John and Letta. In the history I have it states Eliza Jane was born in Seneca, New York. I assumed (I know, assume nothing) it was the village of Seneca. Later I found that Seneca was in county of Ontario, N.Y. I still haven't found the Sanford family. Have you come across a John Sanford? I have seen the Gideon Sanford but can't say just where now. I willl check my papers as I usually keep my lists of family names jut in case the fit eventually. Thanks for your time. Muriel Glenn
Hello All, I am looking for the parents of Gideon G. SANFORD. He was born in Rensselaer County in Sep 1809. I have never been able to find a connection between Gideon and the other SANFORDS who lived in the county. I am also looking for the name of Gideon's wife. They would have been married about 1833 in Rensselaer County. They had 2 sons, James Harvey and George E. Both of these men were in the Civil War. Gideon and his sons moved to Fulton County, NY before 1848. The only other Gideon SANFORD that I have found was born in Milford CT on 10 Jan 1735. Is anyone researching this SANFORD Line?
