Cousins, I read with great interest the exchange recently between Hilary and Jim regarding the Sanfords of Westmoreland & Fairfax counties, VA. I am still trying to put my Penelope Sanford who was born 1723 with her family. Penelope is reported to have been born in England, the daughter of Humphrey Sanford & Elizabeth Jones and granddaughter of Sir Humphrey Sanford & Hon. Rebecca Walker. I am doubting this whole tale: one reason being that the names of such illustrious ancestors show up nowhere in Penelope's descendants that I can find. I believe my Penelope belongs with the rest of the Westmoreland Sanfords. She married Haden Edwards, who was born in Westmoreland in 1716. Hilary and everyone, would you please search your databases for any clues regarding my Penelope? Penelope Sanford and Haden Edwards named their known sons Sanford, JOHN HENRY, Benjamin (after Haden's brother) and GEORGE.........known daughters were Penelope, Mary (after Haden's mother), Elizabeth, and Nancy. Who can tell me something about Benjamin Franklin Sanford who married Pearl Alma Derden, Sep. 4, 1898. Pearl was born in Ellis Co., TX, Jan. 25, 1882 and died in Hollis, OK, Nov. 3, 1969. Henry Sanford married Sari ? thought to be Cherokee Indian in Alabama. Their daughter Sarah Sanford was born 1838 in Mobile Alabama. The family came to Texas Too! Please tell me you know something about this guy. Sarah Sanford married Thomas B. Martin in 1855 in Texas and was known to be in Limestone county and in 1880 she was in Wise county Texas. Wise county at that time was a reservation of sorts. Perhaps her parents were there. Please help on this one. Tell me that Henry is part of one of your families that came from Alabama to Texas.
