Hello, Cousins, I saw on VA-Roots about a book, "History of Albemarle CO, VA," orig. published in 1901, Edgar WOODS, C. J. Carrier CO, Harrisonburg, VA, 1978 that has information on surnames in Albemarle Co. The lady who checked the book out from the library sent me the following: Page 347: In 1774 David Wood came from Louisa, and purch land from David Watts, on the w side of the SW Mountain. In that section he est. his home. He died in 1813. His wife was a Watson of the Green Spring family, and his children Martha, wife of Nathaniel Thomason, Eliz., wife of Micajah Carr, Mary wife of John Sandridge, who emigrated to Green CO, KY, Drury, Lucy, wife of Elisha d. Gilliam, who removed to Christian CO, KY, Henrietta, wife of James Jeffries, Nancy, wife of Meekins Carr, James, Sarah, wife of a Gooch, who emigrated to Lincoln CO, KY, and Ann, wife of Barnett Smith. Drury resided at Park Hill, opposite the bend of the north fork of the Rivanna, near Stony Point. As a man of business he was judicious and energetic, and acq. a large estate. He died in 1841. He m Malinda, dau. of John CARR, and his children were Sarah, wife of Nathaniel Burnely, James who m Frances, dau. of Hancock Allen, David who m Lucy, dau of Richard Duke, Wm., George, Fendall-these 5 bros. emigrated to W TN-Rich W, Thomas, Drury, Mary, wife of Rbt. Durrett, Martha, wife of James D. Allen, and Caroline, wife of Thomas J. Early. rice was adm. to the bar in 1821 and rep. the county in the House of Delegates. He died 1831, on threshold of a promising career. His wife was Sarah Donahoe of Staunton and his children Corenlia, wife of George D. Brent, Alice, wife of John J., Winn, Mary and Antoinette. Thomas was adm to the bar in 1830-at the time of his death its oldest member-and was also a member of the Legislature. He was twice married, first to Mary Morton, of Prince Edward, and secondly to Mrs. Sturdivant, of Washingotn CO. he died w/o and: page 56: Among those who were thus commended to the people of Georgia, were James Marks, one of the magistrates, Abraham Eades, Wm. Sandridge, Christopher Clark, Bennett HENDERSON, and Wm. & Samuel Sorry. James marks was not long after followed by his brother, Col. John Marks, who removed during his incumbency in the office of sheriff. She is looking for the following: I have Watkins, Moore, and Hart in my files.
