Mary Canady/Kenedy's father was supposed to have been Joseph Canady/Kenedy but person supplying this has never furnished to me the proof of where she got this info. In the book Descendants of Nathan and Mary Sandage, by Ms. Elizabeth Browning, she says that they think Mary's parents were William Kennedy/Canady (who came from Lancaster Co, PA ca 1754-55 and who lived on Brown's Creek, Union Co, SC) and Mary Ann Brandon. They believe that William was born France, came via Ireland to Lancaster Co, PA before coming to SC, and that he was a French Huguenot. Same with the info about Nathan being born in Albemarle Co, VA and son of Thomas and Frances Choppell/Chappell -- she never did tell me where she obtained this info. I have asked her dau-in-law, but don't know what the problem is in why I never get an answer on source unless Ms. Terry just doesn't remember it (she is in late 90's and not doing well at this time). As for the age, no it isn't unknown for women to marry 13 to 18 in that day and age and if she married, say at age 16 in 1712 then she would have been 58 and many women are still having children then during their menopause (even in this day and age -- I know several who had children between 55 and 65.). But remember that the 1754 date is an approx as I have also seen his birthdate shown as ca 1749 and 1750 in which case this would make her (if marrying at 16) 53 or 54. I am assuming that Moses and Sarah Harding are your ancestors??? Would you mind my asking how your lineage runs to them? Are you by any chance a descendant of Fred and Lenola (Turner) Jackson? or is Jackson a married-into name? I can't recall exactly how I have gotten the 1749, 1750 and 1754 dates but think it was from census info as well as his will (my records of where I obtained info were destroyed not once, but TWICE and now I am going on info I had sent to my family members prior to the destruction of info and trying to refind all the proofs -- unfortunately the stuff I sent to family members was the skeletal names, dates, places and didn't show where I got info in the first place. We find 3 children born to Nathan and Mary so far (she could have had some who died, or got disowned, but these 3 were mentioned in the will before he died and also showed on 1790 census in Union Co, SC) -- Moses (my ancestor)b ca 1774 SC (he died before 1818), Nathan, b Mar 17, 1804 Union co, SC, and Thomas born Feb 2/9, 1776 Union Co, SC. Since Moses was supposed to have received the property in SC it is assumed he was the eldest. Nathan's will which mentions these children is made on the 29th of ? Month 1800 but was witnessed Apr 14th, 1804 and again witnessed on Apr 5, 1819 and was not recorded until Apr 5, 1819 -- SC Wills Vol 2, Book B, Page 70D,1C(1). Because of the dates we assume that Nathan died between time he wrote will in 1800 or when first witnessed in 1804 and the probate of Apr 5, 1819. We believe also it was before the death of his son Moses because he was still mentioned in the will and not removed as being deceased, etc. On the above will and the property left to the 3 boys I would surely like to know how this property later was sold or changed hands (through wills, etc) because of the 3 boys we have info on Thomas and Moses but nothing on the son Nathan. He was last seen on 1840 census of Union Co, SC as being between 50 and 60 yrs old and using Sandredge as name. We would like to get in contact with the descendants of this Nathan but can't find anything more on him except family rumors say he left SC and went to Georgia or Tenn. But if the property descended down to the children of these 3 children it could be a lead to not only when Moses died and where, but also to who the children are that Nathan had. The will mentions Mary got 100 acres of the land they lived on as well as another 100 acres which adjoined their land and David Stuart's land "up the creek" as well as 25 acres of land adjoining the plantation they lived on being on one side and George Hope's land being on the other side. Since we have never found when or where Mary died (believed to be Perry Co, IN but never proven) then again the sale of this land or change of hand due to her death and possibly going to her descendants may be a clue as to where and when she died. We have always assumed that she and Thomas and Moses sold their share before moving to Perry Co, IN, but this again is just assumption and may not be the case. (It has also been assumed that Mary remarried as we did find a Mary Sandage marrying in Perry Co, IN; but others say that she never remarried; and again she may have gone back to SC or GA to be cared for by her other son and died in those locations.). Going on the date of probate of the will, if Nathan died very close to the 1919 date, then it is possible that the son Moses may already have died and just not removed from the will -- if this is the case then somewhere it should show this land as being transferred to Moses' widow, Charity Kinder Sandage (she later married a Bolin) or to his child(children). So far we only found ONE child of Moses and Charity (my ancestor). As for your statement about Thomas being a late in marriage baby -- that would have been Nathan who was born in 1804, not Thomas who was born 1776. I have been trying to get this family online but only do a little at a time, but you can find some stuff already at 6 links off the Perry Co, IN USGenWeb Project Page: http://members.aol.com/murphyjudi/perry/perry.htm The links are 1) the index (in process of being done) of book previously mentioned: Descendants of Nathan and Mary Sandage; 2) Sandage Family Book #1 (had what I knew then on Nathan's family and descendants); 3) Sandage Family Book #2 (added info I left off from book #1 plus added Sandidge, Sandridge and other stuff I had located at that time across the USA; 4) index to that last book #2; 5) my-ged.com/Kinder and 6) my-ged.com/Murphy these last 2 being my direct lineage and has Sandage persons listed in there. Please let me know how you descended from Nathan and Mary Sandage (Sandidge/Sandridge).
