State of Virginia Albemarle County Deed Book 1764-1768 - Deed Book 3 pp255 - 257 "This Indenture made the tenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two between Francis Meriwether of County of Spotsylvania and Mary his wife of the one part and Robert Lewis of the County of Albemarle Witnesseth that said Francis Meriwether and Mary his wife for sum of three hundred and eighty pounds current money of Virginia doth sell Robert Lewis his heirs a certain parcel of land lying in County of Albemarle containing fourteen hundred and forty acres mroe or less and bounded by the lands of Robert Lewis on the south side, Docter Thomas Walker and WILLIAM SANDIDGE on the north side and by the old grant lines on the east and west sides which said tract of land is part of a larger tract granted by Patent to Nicholas Meriwether late of the said County of Albemarle decd and by the said Nicholas devised to the said Francis in Fee....Presence Geo. Martin, Frans. Meriwether, Nichos. Meriwether, Matthew Anderson, J. Lewis. At a court held for Albemarle County the xi day of November MDCCLXII. This Indenture and receipt were proved by the oaths of Nicholas Meriwether, Matthew Anderson & John Lewis three of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded." pp61-63. "This indenture made this eleventh day of April 1765 between George Murrell & Jannett his wife of County of Amherst & Parish of Amherst of the one part & WILLIAM SANDIDGE of the County of Albemarle & Parish of Fredericksville of other part witnesseth that said George Murrell for the sum of Sixty pounds current money of Virginia have sold unto said WILLIAM SANDIDGE his heirs for ever two several parcells of land in the County of Albemarle containing two hundred and seventy eight acres of land that is to say one Trace of land of two hundred and fifteen acres on the North West side of the Sugar Loaf Mountain & bounded as followeth beginning at Craddocks Corner Chesnut in Carrs line running thence along the same north to a hickory in said line thence south east to a stake Clarks line & along the same south east to a hickory on the top of the aforesd. mountain in the dividing line between Hanover & Goochland Countys & along the same north west tot he beginning the same granted unto Daniel Design by Patent bearing date at Williamsburgh on the first day of February 1738 & one other track of land of sixty three acres beginning at a Chestnut Oak running thence on the Hanover County line, north west to pointers thence on Thomas Kerr, south west to a red oak on the west side of a mountain north east to the first station, the same being granted unto one Giles Allegre by Patent bearing date at Williamsburgh the first day of December 1748 which two parcels of land are now in the Tenure & posession of said George Murrell & Jennett his wife. In the presence of Joseph Street, George M. Murrell, Jno. Harvie, Jr., Christopher Johnson, Jennett Murrell. At a court held for Albemarle County the XIth day of April 1765. This Indenture & Memorandum were acknowledged by George Murril and Janett his wife parties thereto & ordered to be recorded. She being first privily examined as the law directs."
