This man sent me the following info and I thought maybe it was wrong since I had only found some of the children of David Sandidge and one being Winifred who I showed had married a Bronaugh and didn't see this Anna Sandidge. (quote) From: "Vernon Hord" <A05883A@acehardware.com> Date: Mon, 20 Sep 1999 17:57:59 -0500 I noticed your middle name "Sandage". I also descend from Anna Sandidge m. David Bronaugh 1787 dau of David Sandidge (son of William) and Anna Pullman (dau of Thomas Pulliam and Winifred Holladay. Is there any connection? Just a thought. Vernon Hord (unquote) When I queried this other sister, he sent me more info and I was especially interested in the children he mentioned here since I had only found 5 or 6 of them -- but one child in particular I was curious about since I showed that Winifred had married a Bronaugh while in this book it shows she had married Joseph Boxley. (quote) Most of the information I have concerning the Bronaugh/Sandidge family comes from a private publication "Bronaugh Family History" by Helen Taylor, Lola Neil, Janie Kizziar and Gladys Hall revised in 1998. On page 40 is written "1. David Bronaugh, son, born in King George County, Virginia. He married Anna Sandidge in 1787. Anna was the daughter of David Sandidge (son of William Sandidge) and Anna Pulliam who was the daughter of Thomas Pulliam and Winifred Holladay. (other variation of spelling: Sandridge, Sandage and Sandege). Will of William Sandidge in part.......... In the name of God Amen The 11th day of March One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-six I William sandidge of the Parish of St. George in the County of Spotsylvania......... It is my Will and desire that my Son William Sandidge (Note: he married Elizabeth Graves and settled in Albemarle County when he sold his land about 1755 in Spotsylvania County)......... I give to my son David Sandidge five hundred acres of land......and if my son David should die without heir as aforesaid, then the part of estate due to him by my will to his two brothers James (Note: he married Jane Shelton) and John Sandidge. Item I give to my granddaughter Sarah Golson (Note: daughter of his daughter Mary who married Anthony Gholson, Jr.) one acres of land.........". On page 45 "Capt. David Bronaugh, who commanded a company in 1805-1806, married Anna Sandidge on December 13, 1787. They went to Mason County, Kentucky after 1810. He called his land my Quarter Plantation......... Anna Sandidge was born in 1768 and died soon after her husband's death on June 24, 1853. She was probably born in Spotsyylvania County, Virginia. She was the eleventh child of twelve Children born to David and Ann Pulliam Sandidge. She had five brothers: David, Jr., James, who married Patsy Bronaugh, Larkin who married Mary, Austin, who deeded her a portion of land, married Mary Holliday and Zachary. Her sisters were Winifred who married Joseph Boxley, Elizabeth who married Joseph Pulliam, Susannah who married William Garrett, Mary Ann who married Joseph Holliday, Sarah who married William Oliver and Sophia who married James Holliday." On page 47 "153-B. Winifred Bronaugh, eldest daughter of David Bronaugh and Anna Sandidge, was born on December 31 1790 (1791) and died in 1839. She married Thomas Hord, August 24, 1816. He was the son of Rhodin Hord and Sarah "Sally" Hord. They had eight children...........7. John James Hord, twin, married Cornelia Julia Lander. They had five children: a. Newton Herbert married Eveline Charlotte Hall. Their son John Parham Hord had a son Newton Henry Hord who is the father of Vernon Hord of Crosby, Texas;" - that's me. Janie Kizziar was very kind to include my name in the book. The Hord family is well documented in the book "The Genealogy of the Hord Family - 1898" by Rev. A. H. Hord. Vernon Hord (unquote) Does anyone know if this book he quotes from (showing the children of David) has been proved and this info is true? Also -- did Winifred ever marry a Bronaugh? (maybe person who sent me the info was thinking of Winifred's niece Winifred Bronaugh when they gave me this name). Thanks, Judy M.
