Hello new ones, My line come out of Albemarle County, VA. about 1810/1815 with Benjamin Thurmond Sandridge, son of Stephen ;and Sarah (Sally) Sandridge, moving to Franklin County, Tenn.. He married Mary Elizabeth Martin and their 1st born was Thomas Hastings, my gggrandfather, who moved to Mississippi between 1840/44. His first son was my ggrandfather, William Scott, born in Madison County, Miss. . His 10th child was my grandfather, Benjamin Lamar, born in Miss. and his 2nd child was my father John, born in Brookhaven, Miss.. His 2nd son is me, Ronald Stephen Sandidge, born in Brookhaven, Miss. and I am the last of my line born in Mississippi. I now live in Victoria, Texas and have 2 sons born here. If this is of interest to you let me know. I am not a big geneologist but I do have some things in my line. Also, my mom is a Brister from Mississippi if there is any interest. Ron Sandidge

Just finished answering a message sent to me and Elizabeth -- in it there was some interesting stuff about the Sandage persons in England. although I don't see that he has proven this lineage it does mention a specific area of England and perhaps this is where all our Sandage/Sandridge/Sandidge's came from??? Also note the comment abou the people dying and the dates. I am sending here what I responded, and the parts of the original letter are shows as such (with >>>'s): If anyone has info on any of these persons he mentions here as Nathan's ancestors I would like to know more. Same with my comment about how I have been told (unproven to date) of Nathan's parents -- am still looking for evidence that Nathan was their son and either wills or some mention of him with them, etc. Here was my response to Elizabeth and Dean: I am wondering where James Sandage, of Oklahoma City, got this info -- >"Direct Descendants of Eliae Sandage >1 Eliae SANDAGE b: Abt. 1610 >.. + JOANNAE >...2 Robtus SANDAGE b: Jul 23, 1643 in Glemsford, Suffolk, England >.....3 ??? SANDAGE b: Abt. 1675 >........4 ??? SANDAGE b:Abt. 1710 >...........5 Nathan SANDAGE b: Abt. 1750 in Ireland d: Apr 5, 1819 in >Union [County], SC > *2nd Wife of Eliae Sandage:" > ****** >Next to items 3, 4, and 5 above, James has hand-written "conj." by which >I expect he means "conjecture." Reason I say this is that up until this message we had always been told that Nathan was son of Thomas Sandage/Sandidge/Sandridge b 1691 (who married Feb 20, 1711/12 Albemarle Co, VA to Frances Choppell/Chappell) -- we had never proven this and had further been told that Thomas' parents were John Sandidge, b ca 1666 England-d 1708 New Kent, VA and Mary Vaughn, b ca 1670 England and d ca 1707VA), and Thomas' grandfather was Col James (Thomas) Sandidge/Sandwich, b ca 1620 England. We have never proven or disproven the above, plus it was said Nathan was born 1754 Albemarle Co, VA. Again neither proven or disproven (Mrs. Terry of Perry Co was one who gave me this above info and I have never gotten her to tell me where she got it (I am going through her dau-in-law asking). Second thing I noted is that it shows Nathan as dying Apr 5, 1819 Union Co, SC -- that is the date the will was recorded or probated AFTER he had died (if memory serves correctly -- I just wonder if he actually found the death notice or some place that showed that as same day he died. I had notes that since the wife and children left SC for Indiana in 1812 then it was believed that he had died before 1812. Talking about the will -- I sure wish I could get hold of the sales and inherritance stuff on the land that Nathan left his wife and 3 sons. As for his ancestry it sounds like this is James Emanuel Buford Sandage, b Jun 13, 1923 you are corresponding with??? If so then his heritage was: Nathan Thomas Moses Thomas & Clarissa Jeffries Emanuel (brother of your Moses) & Ella L. Paxton (his 2nd wife) Wayne Marion & Beatrice May Anderson James (him) of Okla City, OK & Helen Hayes That would make Emanuel his grandfather, not his father. Took me a few minutes to straighten it out since you, Dean, had mentioned Thomas II (who I have as Thomas' son, Thomas, not his grandson) But I get confused sometimes too what with so many names being the same. Read between (below) for more comments: >Dear E--- > >Ironic that you should mention James Sandage of Okalhoma City, because I >have just received a "real" letter from him. You seem to be correct that >his father was Emanuel ("Manuel"), brother of Moses II, sons of Thomas >II. He wrote to me after seeing a letter I wrote to Elizabeth (Sandage) >Browning some months ago. >In addition to several pages of notes on Sandages he lists in two and a >half pages of small type the descendants of Thomas and Clarissa. >Most interesting, however, is some information I don't think I had ever >heard of before: > ***** >"Direct Descendants of Eliae Sandage >1 Eliae SANDAGE b: Abt. 1610 >.. + JOANNAE >...2 Robtus SANDAGE b: Jul 23, 1643 in Glemsford, Suffolk, England >.....3 ??? SANDAGE b: Abt. 1675 >........4 ??? SANDAGE b:Abt. 1710 >...........5 Nathan SANDAGE b: Abt. 1750 in Ireland d: Apr 5, 1819 in >Union [County], SC > *2nd Wife of Eliae Sandage:" > ****** >Next to items 3, 4, and 5 above, James has hand-written "conj." by which >I expect he means "conjecture." > >Following the he has some printed "Notes" on Eliae Sandage, as follows: > > LDS [probably Utah Mormon files] IGI 1994 Edition, source #950452 > Sometime during 1650 the language for recording christenings was >changed from Latin, "filius" (son of) and "filia" (daughter of), to >English, "sonne of" and "daughter of." > During the period 2 Feb., 1648 to 23 May 1662, a terrible plague hit >Glemsford. 208 children and 69 wives were buried - 20 children between >February and August of 1658 alone! This may explain why the Sandages, >and others no doubt, moved away. > That is quite interesting -- maybe the ships records and logs might reveal our ancestor coming to America during this timeframe or just after. > ***** >There is some additional information I do not think I had heard before, >and I need your assistance on this one... >First he reports that Charles' brother, Orville Glenn, first married >Grace Parmanm with no additional data on her. He then lists Orville's >2nd wife as Cora Frances Parman, married: Feb 24, 1918/19 d: Jan 13, >1965/66. From this union he reports two children: Weldon Glen, and Wanda >Mae, both in Missouri. I show first marriage to Cora Parman on Jul 24, 1919 Harrison Co, MO, she was born Dec 6, 1897 and d Jan 13, 1966. His second wife, Grace Parman they married Aug 8/17, 1967 or 71 (one person told me Aug 8th, another 17th). Grace was born Jan 24, 1905 and was sister of Cora's. I show that there were 3 children born, Harold David he didn't show above. >He then lists as Charles' FIRST WIFE the very same Cora Frances Parman, >but lists no marriage date, nor any progeny. He then lists Dorothy >Briggs as Charles' SECOND WIFE! (By the way, this also makes you, >according to his charts, Charles' 3rd wife, Elizabeth DANNER m: 1972.) >I think that Cora Frances Parman never married Charles and that this is >some strange kind of "typo" perhaps related to the geneology program >James says he uses, Family Tree Maker, v.4.4. >I'm nearly certain I'm correct here, but I want your definitive ruling >on the above before I suggest that James correct his files. He is mistaken in the Cora Parman marriage to Charles -- Charles wrote me and said Dorothy was his first wife and Elizabeth Anthea Smith his second wife. I am sure Elizabeth will tell you that too. He married to Dorothy on Aug 5, 1924 or 4th -- my scribbling was bad and I coulnd't read what it said. I show Charles' marriage to Elizabeth as Jul 18, 1971. My best, Judith Sandage Murphy (Judy M.)

Hello, "Cousins", We are glad to have new researchers join us and hope you will introduce yourselves and the branch of the tree you are working on. Names changed according to sounds and who was writing them -- a German would use their spelling methods while an Irish person used theirs, etc. Yes it is a possiblitity that Sanerage could have been from the family of the other spellings. We find it in the USA and elsewhere too. Now most of the ones I have met here in the USA were already here in 1790 so these persons wouldn't be a direct ancestor, but could be a relative from a very very distant ancestor of ours who descended from a common ancestor way back 1750's or before, etc. The reason mainly I sent this is NOT because these people are direct blood ancestors of ours (unless you originated in England, etc. after 1850) but because we have been trying to get a foot-hold on the different areas on that side of the Atlantic to see if we can locate where our ancestors DID come from, or at least places where they stayed and maybe, just maybe, we can find the proof we have all been seeking on who the parents are of our common ancestor who was first to step foot in America. For instance -- if John Sandwich/Sandidge,etc. came from Ugborough-DEV England in 1760 with his wife, then our trying to find his parents in church listings in London -- well, we might be FAR off. But if we looked in the Ugborough-DEV area church records going on this "lead below" and we found him with his parents names -- then this would be a gold-mine of a find!!! With each lead, then someone might find our answers and the proof we are all seeking. I remember that all my life I have been told by my grandmother and father that we are descendants of both Pocohantas (not Sandage side of family) and the Earl of Sandwich (which Hawaii was named for). Although I know that the Earl of Sandwich could NOT be my ancestor because he was the 4th Earl, his name was John Montague, and we were already in America when he was born and in power (my ancestors were already found in 1790 in Union Co SC and said that we came from Albemarle Co, VA (not proven yet) it is STILL a lead because it is ALWAYS that slim possibility that the 4th Earl of Sandwich's grandfather or gr-grandfather was our ancestor's uncle or parent, etc. and he changed his name to Sandwich before coming to America, etc. -- it is ONLY a lead on where to look overseas. Sometimes we have to grasp at straws in the beginning and hope we get the right one. I hope I answered your question. Our "cousin" Roberta sent me the following message. I hope someone can help. I haven't tried joining the DAR. Send your message to Roberta at RicharRA@pentagon.af.mil Rita Roberta wrote: I would like to apply for membership in the DAR. In order to do this, I have to prove my relationship to David Epperson, Jr. (who died at Valley Forge). I am a direct descendant of his. How do I go about proving this as marriage and birth records were very iffy. I can trace marriage records in Albermarle Co. VA back to two generations after his but what else do I do? Please advise. As a brand new subscriber to this list, I was delighted to see so much information and discussion on Dillard Sandridge. Just about all of my paternal relatives are from (and still in) Albemarle County, Va. I grew up in Crozet and knew alot of the Sandridge folks. While I haven't researched this line very much, most of what I've found have been around that area. I've included below my connection to Dillard. I'm interest in hearing from anyone who can help me fill in the numerous holes! C.T. This following is more info I received about PULLIAM. I am sending them to the list so that you may be able to further research Ann PULLIAM. Rita 1. Here's something else that I found. There is a William PULLAM on a New Kent County Rent Roll list for lands held in the Parish of St. Peters and St. Paull (the book's spelling, not mine) for 1704. Acreage was 575 acres. This is from the book, "English Duplicates of Lost Virginia Records," by Louis des Cognets, Jr., published 1958, last reprinted in 1990. That's the only entry for anything close to that name. Richard 2. I'm not, but I read somewhere that the PULLIAM surname is also PUTNAM, of which I have tripped across many times while searching in Culpeper County VA for my CLAYTONS. The Claytons also originate in New Kent County VA. 3. I don't have anything on Ann Pulliam other than this name and that she married Joseph Martin aft 1750 and some sources say that she had 2 children by him: Ann Martin and John "Jack" Martin in 1756. I've heard that is disputed, too. Ann married Livingston Isbell and Jack married Nancy Ann Shipp and had 10 children. Sorry I'm not more help. I don't have her birth or death dates even. I was studying the Martins and recognized her name in your query. Leslie 4.Rita: No, I don't know any of them. Just see the name all over the place on the Perry Co., IN Genweb page. The woman that runs the page is researching that name. Just thought you might be interested :o) Kare
